Film tourism sector has seen tremendous growth in the past few years. It represents a gateway to new and more intense ways of experiencing destinations. At the same time, it creates the potential for new communities by way of an exchange of insights, knowledge and experience among the tourists themselves. Films play a significant role in the promotion of tourism in various countries and different states of India. A film tourist is attracted by the first-hand experience of the location captured on the silver screen. Not only is film tourism an excellent vehicle for destination marketing, it also presents new product development opportunities, such as location tours, film museums, exhibitions and the theme of existing tourist attractions with a film connection. This report focusses on the concept of film tourism and the various initiatives taken by both the state and central government of India for boosting film induced tourism through their respective film production policies. Drawing on the success of their talent hunt programmes such as Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Indian Idol and Dance India Dance, this research work argues that reality television appeals in different ways to participants and celebrities at different points in the fame cycle. ‘Ordinary’ people seeking to become known through using reality television as an opportunity. To understand the importance of Indian reality television shows for ordinary people and considering fame as a cyclical process, a survey of opinions has been conducted through questionnaire among students of media and communication studies. The present study explores how a successful reality television show cast ordinary people who are at a range of points in the fame cycle as seek to develop their own image and those whose careers are in a period of ‘post-celebrity’ who seek to renew their fame and to prove a key attraction for audiences. By focusing on the “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” show format, this paper has followed the work of Vladimir Propp to examine the cultural expressions with the sequential development of the narrative plot. The convergent parallel mixed method has been using to collect quantitative and qualitative data. While using the Likert scale, the reliability of the questionnaire has been calculated and reported Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for internal consistency reliability. The quantitative data has gathered from 205 respondents and 99 episodes aired from 2017 to 2019 have analysed in qualitative data, which is followed by data analysis through IBM SPSS Statistics.

Children and teenagers alike switch on their television in their spare time and watch different kind of programmes to entertain themselves. We are not just inclined towards visual media but also in a state of deep dependence upon it, in order to gratify our personal needs and emotions. One watches television if one is depressed, sad or just bored. Television is not a tool of luxury in our households. It is a mandatory communication tool for news, entertainment and fulfils a larger social role of dispersing information and forming opinions. However it is to be noted that child actors form a large portion of Children are the future of tomorrow and India possesses a large market of children to cater to. The reality shows offer lucrative fame to children and they are attracted because of their want of the five minutes of fame syndrome. The research will consist of an analysis of Indian child labour laws and whether the Indian film and television industry adheres to the same.
