Synopsis

Frank Sinatra is a popular, 20th century American singer, actor, and producer. He was born in

December of 1915 and died at the age of 82 in May of 1998. He is still remembered to this day for his iconic voice and meaningful lyrics.

Early Life

On Dec 12th of 1915, Francis Albert Sinatra was born to his Italian immigrant parents. Francis’s father worked in the fire department as a firefighter and his mother was a non-professional singer. He grew up in the city of Hoboken, New Jersey in a neighborhood that was predominantly Italian American.

His first major musical experience was when, on his 15th birthday, his uncle bought him a ukulele, his true passion was singing. By watching , another popular 20th century singer/songwriter, Francis was inspired to take up singing lessons. When Frank was of age he attended Northern Valley Regional High School and sang in the glee club at the school, but he later was expelled, because he was an unruly teenager. known as the ‘Hoboken Four’. After a bit of touring the band disbanded and Frank started his solo career which would eventually shoot him into stardom.

Innovative Inventions

In 1942 Sinatra's first studio album, The Voice of , hit the top of the charts and stayed in the number one spot for seven weeks straight. His song released in 1960 titled:

Nice Easy hit the top spot in the billboard and occupied the spot for a total of 9 whole weeks. It is said that Frank Sinatra was the one to invent the concept album. Frank has appeared in a total of 57 movies. These roles even allowed for him to be nominated and even win a handful of awards such as "Best Supporting Actor" In the film, From here to Eternity. Frank encouraged many future musicians when he was brave enough to come up with the idea of making his own record label. Francis was one of the first to have a "celebrity squad". He joined with a bunch of his famous buddies like , Sammy Davis Jr. and to create what was known as the "."

Frank’s Global Impact

Frank was awarded a spot in the Grammy museum that is currently located in Los Angeles.

Some would say that Frank Sinatra was the one to start the whole "rock 'n roll" attitude. His run- ins with the law, womanizing, and alcohol use set an example for many rockers and musical artist in general that came after him. He also made people look more towards the singer. People in the early 20th century were at first only interested in the music and not the person making it.

Frank's statue allowed for people to see the man behind the music and thus idolize or reject him as they saw fit. This would lead to the idolization of many who came after him because by that

point it was just common to go crazy whenever you heard their music or saw them. Francis’s song ‘’ has been covered by over 50 artists such as Elvis, Seth McFarlane, and Robbie

Williams. Lot of people have tried to copy his style, voice, and attitude. In a way he was also an advocate for civil rights he worked with someone who was black, as he did many times in his career, he wanted them to be just as protected as he was. They were treated with just as much respect as their lighter skinned counterparts thanks to Sinatra. This might’ve lead to others to do the same respect for many other black artists in the near future.
