Total Budget: USD 7 Million The Malakand region was adversely aected due to the clashes between the militants and armed forces in 2009. The magnitude of destruction was massive and more than 2.3 million people were forced to leave their homes. The infrastructure in Swat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was severely damaged. The scale of destruction was similar to the one suered in the earthquake of 2005. The oods in 2010 further worsened the situation. The damage to community infrastructure and collapse of the relevant institutions deprived communities of access to basic services and facilities. In response, UNDP with the nancial assistance from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) launched a Community Infrastructure Restoration and Rehabilitation project in District Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Objective To help rebuild basic community infrastructure improving community access to services and facilities including education, health and local markets.
