Houston pays Byrd blackmail over several payments bleeding him dry, then offers a share in a prospective well, but Byrd refuses. Paula consults Perry Mason but does not tell him the whole truth. Charles flees and is found dead in Byrd's apartment by Paula, shot with Evelyn's gun. Someone The Case of the Lucky Legs: A Perry Mason Mystery #3 her in the apartment and turns out the lights forcing her to escape via the fire escape but she is caught by the police. Paula is charged with murder, and Perry has to sort things out. Written by richardann. Roger Byrd, an novice nature photographer, is filming wildlife along a roaming meadow. Mr Byrd hears some commotion coming from the road above and points his camera The Case of the Lucky Legs: A Perry Mason Mystery #3 the area. He sees a man, Charles Houston, placing his unconscious wife behind the wheel of a car right before pushing the car over a canyon cliff. Mr Byrd then blackmails Mr Houston or he will release the pictures to the district attorney's office. Mr Houston, who has half interest in an oil well, has to over-sell his portion to pay Mr Byrd. Everything will be alright if the oil well does not produce - but to his dismay the oil well is a gusher. Now people that brought into his scheme- Lucky Sterling a big time gambler, Madelyn Terry the gambler girlfriend and Paula Wallace his dead wife's sister- will soon discover that he is unable to make the claims that he sold. But before all that can happen Mr Houston is found shot in Mr Byrd's apartment. The police catch Paula Wallace running from the building and with the help of a witness claim that she murdered Mr Houston. Even though there seems to be much activity in the story, by the time we get to the murder, the show has become cloudy with all the characters and the strange occurrence of events. But it picks up quite nicely when we get to the courtroom scenes. Perry is at the top of his game when he faces Hamilton Burger at the bar. The show picks up pace with the exchanges and testimony in the courtroom. This action, plus the acting of the actors, saves this episode from digressing into boredom. Marjorie had won the Lucky Legs contest in Cloverdale, Utah along with an acting contract. At that time, more than one person thought that the contest organizer, Frank Patton, was a scam artist something that seems to be correct when Marjorie's contract was canceled two days after her arrival in LA. Perry and Della go to visit Patton but find him dead on the floor, stabbed to death with a wood carving knife. Worse, just as they arrived at Patton's building, a young woman went running out the front door, a woman Perry later realizes is Marjorie Cluny. Several people might have had it in for Patton but when Marjorie is charged, Perry defends her. Written by The Case of the Lucky Legs: A Perry Mason Mystery #3. Others can describe the plot of this episode better than I although I must admit I didn't think Marjorie Cluny looked much like a young ingenue or wide-eyed naif. The primary thing I want to mention is a fun fact or piece of trivia. At the beginning of the episode, The Case of the Lucky Legs: A Perry Mason Mystery #3 Perry and Della arrive at the apartment building to meet Frank Patton, watch as they get on the elevator. Hint: specifically, look at the floor. This scene really brings home the fact that lates television was as yet unskilled in the details of set design. Even for a scene as brief as this one, it really could have been done better. But it's funny. Looking for some great streaming picks? E Stanley Gardner Law school dropout By Stanley Green E Stanley Gardner Law School dropout Erle Stanley Gardner (July 17, 1989 – March 11, 1970) was an American lawyer and author of detective stories best known for Perry Mason. Erle Stanley Gardner attended Valparaiso University Law School in Indiana for one month where he was suspended as he pursued his career in boxing. 1911 Erle passed the bar exam as a self-taught attorney. 1921 Erle opened his own law firm Sheridan, Orr, Drapeau and Gardner in Ventura, CA. (Wikipedia) College dropout Let’s contrast Erle Stanley Gardner college dropout to his counterpart peer colleagues who have graduated from law school. Who do you think should have the higher education? According to the novel Perry Mason it appears that Erle as a college dropout and self-taught lawyer is far smarter. As a matter of fact Perry Mason has become the blueprint for each criminal defense lawyer that has graduated from law school. Many professional judges, prosecutors and criminal defense lawyers have watched each episode to hone his or her legal skills to conduct criminal trials. Erle is in fact a college dropout. Sonia Marie Sotomayor Sonia Marie Sotomayor has testified under oath during her congressional hearing to vet her appointment by President Obama that Perry Mason has truly inspired her to pursue a law profession. In other words our U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice has been inspired by the novel written by Erle Stanley Gardner law school college dropout. What message does this send to our kids? If a lawyer drops out of law school and writes a detective story to become rich and famous is worthy of inspiration as Supreme Court Justice.

Mason is far more a detective so far. And his main antagonist is Sgt. Holcomb and over the past few books it is obvious that he has some mental issues. Good mystery but not my favorite of the series so far by far.
