PRESS RELEASE Ankogel mountain resort – the getaway of the High Tauern National Park is opening for summer 26th June 2020 – Mallnitz – Ankogel, the picturesque mountain resort of Carinthia is opening on Saturday 27th June and ready to welcome all fans of nature and hiking. The cult cable cars Ankogelbahn I and Ankogelbahn II, which connect the valley with mountain summits, will be operating every day until 13th September. The Ankogel resort is located in Seebachtal (Seebach valley), one of the most beautiful valleys in the High Tauern mountain range. It is a real paradise for everybody who loves walking along valleys, admiring romantic mountain lakes and rumbling waterfalls, or climbing to challenging three-thousanders in the area. If you want to get closer to the highest peaks and feast your eyes on the whole valley and beautiful nature, the comfortable Ankogelbahn I and Ankogelbahn II cable cars are just perfect. “The cable car in the Ankogel mountain resort consists of two sections. From the lower station at the altitude of 1,287 m, passengers can take Ankogelbahn I with two joined cabins to get to the Hochalmblick interchange station (1,941 m). A variety of attractive tourist trails begins there so lovers of easy walks as well as difficult hiking trips can choose what they prefer. If you decide to continue with Ankogelbahn II to get higher, you have to enter one of three joined cabins that operate to the altitude of 2,637 m to Elschesattel (mountain saddle). The overall vertical drop of 1,348 m is just like an invitation to admire the manifold vegetation through the cabin windows – in the green valley and also on snow-covered peaks,” explained Max Gottfried, the resort general manager. Once arrived at the upper station of Ankogelbahn II, most tourists continue to the popular Hannoverhaus cottage. More experienced ones set out for some of the three-thousanders in the area, such as Ankogel (3,250 m), Säuleck (3,086 m) and Hochalmspitze (3,360 m). “One return ticket covering both cable cars costs EUR 28 at ticket offices, the best price (EUR 25) is offered online on www.gopass.travel. Special tickets only for the lower section running to the Hochalmblick interchange station and back are also available, online prices are better in this case as well,” added Max Gottfried. The Ankogelbahn I and Ankogelbahn II cable cars are going to operate from 27.6. to 13.9. every day, then at weekends: 19.-20.9. and 26.-27.9.2020. The Ankogel mountain resort is just a stone´s throw away from the popular Mölltaler Gletscher resort. The only glacier in Carinthia offers skiing for at least 10 months per year. This means that in summer, tourist can enjoy not only a wide choice of tourist trails but also ski pistes or breathtaking panoramic views in all directions from the Eissee restaurant. Č 62/L When making a trip to Ankogel, the picturesque village of Mallnitz located at the altitude of 1,191 m is the starting point. It is embraced by rock massifs of the High Tauern, which makes the mountain atmosphere of this popular destination so special. Mallnitz is not only rich in accommodation establishments but also serves as a significant traffic junction. The 8km-long Tauern-Tunnel, which runs under the main ridge of the Alps, links Mallnitz with neighbouring Gasteinertall (Gastein valley) so with motorails, travelling in the direction of Salzburg is much faster and easier. ___________________________________________________________________________ Tatry mountain resorts, a.s.
