In the midst of a steady rain Circus Galaxy folded in that .city on May 9th. Early this year announcements about the circus indicated it would rival the best shows on the road. Phone crews started their San Antonio promotion about two months ago. While they were vague about the show's name they were positive it was a "large tented show" with the best of everything. CFA's who saw the circus at Victoria described it as "a small show" with no show owned equipment. They called it strictly "a drum and organ show" with the Oscarian Family and some Mexican performers.     BRIO Youth Training Company (ages 8-18) September 2020 - June 2021 1 Brio Program Overview About Brio The Brio Youth Training Company is a ten-month developmental program preparing young circus artists to pursue the joy and wonder of circus with greater intensity. Brio company members will have the opportunity to work with professional performers and world-class instructors to build skills and explore the limitless world of circus arts. Our overarching goal is to facilitate the development of circus skills, creativity, and professionalism, ​ at an appropriate level for the development of our students within a program that is engaging, challenging, growth-oriented, and fun. The structure is designed to be clear— with three levels of intensity—yet flexible ​ enough to respond to individuals’ needs. Candidates should have a background in movement disciplines such as dance, gymnastics, martial arts, parkour, diving, or ice skating, and a desire to bring their passion for the circus arts to the next level. Ideal Brio company members are ages 8 to 18 and interested in exploring the possibilities of circus arts; members may be looking forward towards next steps in our Elements adult training company or circus college, or may just be excited to work with a community of creative and dedicated young artists! Initially, the program will offer two classes tailored for: students with Autism aged 10-14 and students with Down Syndrome aged 16 years and older. Additional classes will be added based on community interest. Circus Arts offers a non-competitive, creative recreational opportunity that allows individuals to shine. Taught by certified instructors, classes will provide instruction in a variety of circus disciplines, including aerial arts, tumbling, and dance in a safe and supportive environment. Students will enjoy individualized attention and be coached according to their ability, helping them to develop confidence in a community of their peers. Parents within AG's community saw the growth in confidence that students experienced in private lessons and one off workshops and knew the potential AG's open environment could bring to students with special needs. When they approached Executive Director Virginia Nugent with the idea, she saw it as a perfect opportunity to help another community "Learn to Fly" physically, emotionally, and creatively. The ability to launch a new pilot program is largely due to support from the Noyes Tenants Association and The City of Evanston to get an additional teaching space in the Noyes Cultural Arts Center. This new space opened up a number of new possibilities for the non-profit. Open Houses will be held on September 11 at 6:00 pm for students with Down Syndrome and September 14 at 7:30 pm for students with Autism to introduce parents and students to the space.
