ALBUM FACTS Genre: Rock Description: Born in an effort to pay tribute to influential artists and his own desire for self-expression, 4AD owner Ivo Watts-Russell formed the band This Mortal Coil.

The band helped pioneer the more modern 4AD sound of atmospheric, goth-based, electronic popmusic and in the case of This Mortal Coil, applies that sound to favorite folk and rock songs alongside a few instrumental originals.

On the first album, 1984's It'll End In Tears, as would be the This Mortal Coil tradition, Ivo invites manyfriends along for the ride, including label mainstays The Cocteau Twins and Dead Can Dance, combining their unique voices and songwriting talents. Deep reverb washes the guitars as soaring voices drift on beds of string instruments and electronics producing beautiful covers of songs by Tim Buckley, Big Star and Alex Chilton and crafting a truly memorable and influential album in it's own right.

This release has been immaculately re-issued under the watchful eye of band and 4AD founder IvoWatts-Russel. All of the music has been re-mastered from the original master tapes and all of the art is from the original assets by Watts-Russel and his team. Born November 5th 1971, Jonny joined the band Radiohead, while still at school. He only finished one term studying music at Oxford Brookes University before leaving to sign a six-album deal with EMI Records and start his recording career with Radiohead.

Since then, Radiohead has realized phenomenal worldwide success over the past fifteen years with multi-platinum album sales and an ever-growing following.

More recently, Jonny has been making a name for himself outside Radiohead as a composer. His first solo project was a soundtrack for the Simon Pummell film Bodysong in 2003, and in March 2004 his first commissioned work Smear, was performed by the London Sinfonietta at the Leeds Fuse festival.

Also in 2004, Jonny was invited by the BBC to be Composer-In-Residence and his work under this appointment includes Piano for Children and Popcorn Superhet Receiver, premiered by the BBC Concert Orchestra in London. Popcorn Superhet Receiver won Jonny the BBC Radio 3 Listeners' Award at the 2006 British Composer Awards.
