Dear Community, Parents, and Players of the Collins Hill Football Program

It is my honor and privilege to serve as your head football coach here at Collins Hill High School. I am so excited about this upcoming 2021 football season and another chance to grow this incredible program and to develop our great student athletes. I am committed to building a program of excellence in everything we do. The 2020 season’s motto was “take the win”, and our program did just that. 2020 season was full of challenges and our coaches, players and parents made the best season in school history. Our program became the first team to play in the Corky Kell Classic which we beat Carrollton to set the tone of the season. We won only the 3rd region championship in school history; we became the third team at Collins Hill to reach the State Semi- Finals. We became the first team to win 12 games, and the first team to reach the State Championship.

While we did not win the Championship, we left the door open for the 2021 football team to finish the mission. 2020 season was the season that put our program on the map. We finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the State and top 50 in the Country. This breakthrough season started 4 years ago with the class of 2021 buying into the core values of the process of building a championship program. As we head into the 2021 season we will enter as one of the favorites to win the State Championship and will be one of the top ranked teams the Nation.

One of the keys to our success is our coaching staff. We have one of the best coaching staffs in the country with championship experience across our entire staff. We have an incredible offseason in front of us and we need to hit the weight room with a purpose. The success of our summer workouts and installations of our offensive and defensive schemes helped us in the 2020 season and will do the same for the 2021 season.

We finished the season with a 12-2 record with 2 of our losses to Nationally ranked Grayson. I am excited about the future and I think that the 2021 team will take the next step towards winning the State Championship. Along with so many accomplishments from our team we had some outstanding individual performances. 13 of our players made the all-region team. We had the athlete of the year, QB of the year, and the Defensive End of the year for the entire

1-25-2021

county. Our players set school, county, and state records in 2020. This season was the breakthrough to the elite level for football programs.

Going forward we will contend and be a nationally ranked and top 10 in the State for years to come. Our goal for this season will be to finish the mission and win the State Championship. I am excited for the success that we had at all levels this season and with so many players returning, the future looks bright. The standards and culture for the Collins Hill football program is established and our players know what our core values are and why it’s important to uphold them. The players understand the importance of playing great fundamentals on all 3 phases of the game and have a clear understanding of hard work and dedication.

The fact that we play one of the hardest football schedules, it is extremely important to have an elite strength and conditioning program. I truly believe strength and conditioning program is a direct result of our players increasing strength, flexibility, and endurance which keeps our players in the game and helps us outperform our opponents. While it is hard to reduce injuries all together, data is showing us the benefit of us improving our overall strength, flexibility, and endurance.

I am excited about the culture that we have created here at Collins Hill and we have a returning football team that will expect to win in 2021. This year proved to our kids that we have the talent to win every game. We are extremely honored and excited for the opportunity for our kids to get the chance to play in the prime-time slot in this year Corky Kell’s game vs Brookwood to kick of the 2021 season.

I am committed to sustaining our nationally recognized program here at Collins Hill. To build on the 2020 season will require an incredible amount of work and dedication from everyone. Now it’s time to raise the standard and bring a State Championship to Collins Hill High School. My wife Kathy and our children are excited to be a part of such a wonderful community. I am thrilled to work at such a beautiful school with amazing student athletes. Our off- season program has already started with workouts (speed & agility). It is imperative to the success of our program that we have all our players training and preparing for this season. We want to continue to mold players into being champions. At the end of the 2020/2021 school year, our summer program will begin, and we will have workouts from 7:30am until 11am throughout the summer Monday through Thursday. We will be participating in several 7v7 tournaments and other camps to improve our player’s football fundamentals and skills. A tentative summer calendar is included in this handbook. I am extremely excited to get the 2021 football season started and I am so honored to serve as your head football coach.

It’s a great day to be an Eagle!!!!

Head Football Coach, Lenny Gregory - BIO

My name is Lenny Gregory, and I am married to Kathy Gregory, and together we have 6 children. I am originally from Santa Rosa, CA- Bay Area. I attended Brigham Young University on a football scholarship from 1989-1993. As a player for BYU, I was a four year letterman, and started 39 straight games on the defensive line from 1991-1993. In 1991 and 1993 I was named on the second team all-Western Athletic Conference team, and in 1992 was named on the first team all-conference team. After graduation I moved to West Virginia where I began a career in the hardwood lumber industry. I was involved in that industry as a business owner & in sales for 13 years. I relocated to the Atlanta, GA area in 1999. At that time I had the opportunity to enter into the football world again as a coach. For the past 12 years I have been coaching varsity high school football and working in education as a Special Education, Health and PE Teacher. My first opportunity as an educator was at Chattahoochee High School in 2007, where I was the Varsity Defensive Line Coach & Head Boys Golf Coach. In 2008 I moved to , where I spent 5 years coaching the defensive line, and two years as the defensive coordinator. During my 7 seasons at Grayson our teams had a record of 76 wins and 16 losses. During the 2011 season we were blessed to go 15-0 and win the Georgia 5A State Title. Grayson received several national rankings as high as #1 in the nation, and in 2011 finished in the top 5 in every national poll. In 2015 I took over the Centennial High School Football program where I led the Knights to 13 wins. In my 2nd season we advanced to the state playoffs with an 8-2 regular season record and hosted the school’s first playoff game since 2002. In 2017, I took over Collins Hill Football, that had a previous record of 2-8, and have reached the playoffs the last four seasons. Football is great, but more than anything I love working with kids and helping them realize their full potential. I am living my dream and loving life. I could not imagine why anyone would want to do anything else besides teach and coach high school kids. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Head Football Coach at Collins Hill High School. I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead a football program with so much potential. I am committed to building a program of excellence in everything we do. It is my belief that Collins Hill has the resources with outstanding student athletes and a great community of pride that will allow me to install a championship football program. I am so excited for the future that is ahead for the Collins Hill football program and our outstanding School, and Community.

IT IS A GREAT DAY TO SOAR, GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!

2021 Collins Hill Football Conditioning Test

My program will be very different in that I require all of the football players to pass a conditioning test in order to participate in full pads. We will have regular workouts every Monday-Thursday from 7:30-11am throughout the summer. In addition to regular workouts, we will have 4 team camps that most of our varsity players will attend. We will also compete in several 7v7 tournaments that we will compete in. Please review our camp schedule to make sure you have these dates marked on your calendar. My vision is to win a State Championship here at Collins Hill High School. This summer we will need every player to attend at least 90% of our activities. This participation is vital for our success and is extremely important for player safety. We will have no workouts the week of July 4th as that is the mandatory GHSA dead week. I take player safety very serious and it is my belief that our players need to be in good condition in order to compete in our very tough region. With the summer weather in Georgia it is also very important that our players are in good condition in order to be acclimated to the temperatures that exist in our summers. While the summer workouts are not required by the GHSA, it will affect what you are allowed to do on this team. The last week of July will be the first mandatory practice that I will have. After August 1st each player will only be allowed to miss 3 practices, which every player should be aware of since everyone has signed our attendance policy. Starting July 26th our players who have made 90% of team activities will begin in my mandatory conditioning test. Each player will be required to perform 6 timed 200 yard sprints with a 1 min rest. The players who do not have 90% attendance will not be allowed to participate in the test and will begin a 2-week acclamation period with a conditioning test at the end of the 2nd week. Below are the requirements for conditioning test by positions.

Offensive lineman 250+ must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 42 seconds

Offensive lineman 250 and less must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 40 seconds

Defensive lineman 250+ must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 40 seconds

Defensive lineman 250 and less must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 38 seconds

Linebackers and TE’s must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 36 seconds

1-25-2021

Quarterbacks and Kickers must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 34 seconds

Defensive backs must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 32 seconds

Wide receivers must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 32 seconds

Running backs must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 32 seconds

9th grade lineman must make 6 timed 200’s with a 1-minute rest in under 42 seconds

Gwinnett County Schools Athlete Code of Conduct

ATHLETIC CODE OF CONDUCT Gwinnett County Public Schools’ athletic programs are a great source of

pride to our communities. Involvement in athletics helps students develop a better sense of

responsibility, cooperation, self-discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship that will help serve them

long after graduation. The lessons and values learned by participating on athletic teams last a lifetime.

All athletes are expected to abide by the highest standards of fair play and sportsmanship while on the

court or field. We also have high expectations regarding behavior when the students are not engaged in

athletic competitions. Students participating in Georgia High School Association extracurricular athletic

activities act as representatives of Gwinnett County Public Schools. All students are expected to conduct

themselves in such a manner as to meet the highest standards of the school system at all times. The

Athletic Code of Conduct is designed to establish high expectations and standards for all students

participating in Georgia High School sanctioned athletic activities. The Code of Conduct also provides

consistent consequences when violations occur. The consequences listed on the Code of Conduct are

minimum standards. The schools can set consequences over and above those listed on the Code of

Conduct. I have read the Gwinnett County Athletic Code of Conduct in the Discipline Handbook and I

understand the potential consequences that go along with violating the Athletic Code of Conduct.

o Capital Investments/Facilities o Weight Room and equipment o Video equipment and technology o Training equipment and sleds and other field equipment o 25 second clocks

o Equipment o Uniforms, gear o Team Meals/Food o Selected 7v7 camps and Padded camps o Transportation to and from tournaments and camps

Fundraising Opportunities

One of the ways that the team earns money is through several fundraisers that occur throughout the year. They include:

1) Eagle Discount Cards – This is a discount card that provides discounts to local businesses. Our sponsors have been gracious enough to offer discounts and in some cases free goods and services or a portion of sales back to the Collins Hill Football Program. This is an opportunity to sell the Eagle Discount Cards which gives back to the program and the local businesses in the community that support us. These are distributed to players in early Spring with a required number to be sold.

2) Volley Ball Court Events- USA Volleyball is having a national tournament and we will help set up and tear down volleyball courts at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event will be in April and our team will work together to tear down and pack up courts. The courts are made out of light plastic squares and they are easy to put together. This is a great fundraiser and we will also use it as a team building experience.

3) Our Fund – This is a player specific webpage link that players can send to family and friends to request donations to help fund player and program fees. This typically runs during the spring to help support Registration and Fee payment.

FAQS - PLAYER FEES FOR THE 2021 SEASON

Parents, because Player Fees are such an integral part of our program, we wanted to put together an FAQ document to hopefully help answer some questions you may have regarding the fees as you read over the registration form. You will see the fees listed on the Registration Form page 2. The dates for the camps and 7 v 7 tournaments will be listed on the 2021 Football-Off Season Schedule.

Also, you will find useful your Player and Parent Handbook which will be distributed on Registration Night February 6th to further clarify the vision of our program.

1. Per the Registration Form, there are several fees for the players including camps, etc. What is really required of the players? Will there be fundraising to offset some of these fees?

The fees are as follows:

Player Fee- $750 Player Fundraising Obligation Fee - $500

Players will have 3 options; Player Fee, Eagle Cards and Our Fund (this is similar to what we know as Boost Me Up). Our Fund will be set up on registration night and can be used to raise money.

There is a Player Fee discount of $50 available if paid in full during Registration. If you are unable to pay the Player Fee in full on the 29th, there will be an option to pay in 3 installments but must be paid in full by August 1st. See page 2 of the Registration form.

Additionally, each player can sell Eagle Cards as a part of their Fundraising Obligation Fee.

As long as a player has met the obligation of $1000, any additional funds raised either through additional Eagle Card sells or Our Fund will go towards paying camp fees. Coach Gregory is willing to work with players however, the expectation is everyone will have to contribute their share and obligation to the program.

Camp fees are an additional option add-on. See page 2 of the registration form.

2. Per the Registration Form there is an additional $250 fee for camps, is this just for those dates that specifically say “camps” or does the $250 also include 7 v 7 tournaments?

The $250 includes the three team camps and the UGA Camp where all players can attend. No additional fee for the 7 v 7 tournaments, however, we’ll need volunteers to make lunches, snacks and drinks for the players to have during those tournaments if it’s not covered by a sponsor. This will be a task for our newly designed Moms Club so more information will be distributed for the needs in this area after registration on the 7th.

See the Off Season Schedule for dates.

3. In the past, players that attended 7 v 7 tournaments were selected at the discretion of the coach is that the same process or will any of the skilled players be welcomed to attend 7 v 7 and what about the camps does that include everyone?

For tournaments where there is limited space, Coach Gregory will advise players. However, there will be tournaments all players can attend such as Locust Grove and the UGA camp.

Freshmen players will only pay for player fees $450 and be responsible for the $500 player fundraising obligation fee. The 9th grade players will not go to the camps unless Coach Gregory personally invites them, which he will contact the parents if he thinks a 9th grade player is ready for a Varsity camp.

4. Is the discounted price for the camps only available on the 7th, if not, what date will be the cut off for the discounted camp price?

Players will have until March 31st to pay the $250 for the camps after that date players will be charged by the trip.

5. If parents don’t take advantage of the discounted camp price by March 31st, what is the anticipated cost per camp?

The cost per camps by the trip is as follows: UGA - $50, Parkview - $150 each (2 Parkview Camps) and North Forsyth - $50. Therefore, the $250 paid by March 31st is a significant savings. See Off Season Schedule for dates.

6. What camps will include linemen?

Linemen will attend the UGA camp, Parkview and North Forsyth camps. See Off Season Schedule for dates.

7. Are the players expected to wear practice gear to every practice during the summer?

Yes, starting in the summer and throughout next fall the players will be expected to wear these items. The staff will do their laundry and wash the cloths daily.

8. Will physicals be offered at the school this year? If so when?

Yes, TBD in April.
