1-25-2021 Collins Hill Eagles Football Program Player & Parent Handbook 2021 www.collinshilleaglesfootball.com 1-25-2021 Dear Community, Parents, and Players of the Collins Hill Football Program It is my honor and privilege to serve as your head football coach here at Collins Hill High School. I am so excited about this upcoming 2021 football season and another chance to grow this incredible program and to develop our great student athletes. I am committed to building a program of excellence in everything we do. The 2020 season’s motto was “take the win”, and our program did just that. 2020 season was full of challenges and our coaches, players and parents made the best season in school history. Our program became the first team to play in the Corky Kell Classic which we beat Carrollton to set the tone of the season. We won only the 3rd region championship in school history; we became the third team at Collins Hill to reach the State Semi- Finals. We became the first team to win 12 games, and the first team to reach the State Championship. While we did not win the Championship, we left the door open for the 2021 football team to finish the mission. 2020 season was the season that put our program on the map. We finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the State and top 50 in the Country. This breakthrough season started 4 years ago with the class of 2021 buying into the core values of the process of building a championship program. As we head into the 2021 season we will enter as one of the favorites to win the State Championship and will be one of the top ranked teams the Nation. One of the keys to our success is our coaching staff. We have one of the best coaching staffs in the country with championship experience across our entire staff. We have an incredible offseason in front of us and we need to hit the weight room with a purpose. The success of our summer workouts and installations of our offensive and defensive schemes helped us in the 2020 season and will do the same for the 2021 season. We finished the season with a 12-2 record with 2 of our losses to Nationally ranked Grayson. I am excited about the future and I think that the 2021 team will take the next step towards winning the State Championship. Along with so many accomplishments from our team we had some outstanding individual performances. 13 of our players made the all-region team. We had the athlete of the year, QB of the year, and the Defensive End of the year for the entire 1-25-2021 county. Our players set school, county, and state records in 2020. This season was the breakthrough to the elite level for football programs. Going forward we will contend and be a nationally ranked and top 10 in the State for years to come. Our goal for this season will be to finish the mission and win the State Championship. I am excited for the success that we had at all levels this season and with so many players returning, the future looks bright. The standards and culture for the Collins Hill football program is established and our players know what our core values are and why it’s important to uphold them. The players understand the importance of playing great fundamentals on all 3 phases of the game and have a clear understanding of hard work and dedication. The fact that we play one of the hardest football schedules, it is extremely important to have an elite strength and conditioning program. I truly believe strength and conditioning program is a direct result of our players increasing strength, flexibility, and endurance which keeps our players in the game and helps us outperform our opponents. While it is hard to reduce injuries all together, data is showing us the benefit of us improving our overall strength, flexibility, and endurance. I am excited about the culture that we have created here at Collins Hill and we have a returning football team that will expect to win in 2021. This year proved to our kids that we have the talent to win every game. We are extremely honored and excited for the opportunity for our kids to get the chance to play in the prime-time slot in this year Corky Kell’s game vs Brookwood to kick of the 2021 season. I am committed to sustaining our nationally recognized program here at Collins Hill. To build on the 2020 season will require an incredible amount of work and dedication from everyone. Now it’s time to raise the standard and bring a State Championship to Collins Hill High School. My wife Kathy and our children are excited to be a part of such a wonderful community. I am thrilled to work at such a beautiful school with amazing student athletes. Our off- season program has already started with workouts (speed & agility). It is imperative to the success of our program that we have all our players training and preparing for this season. We want to continue to mold players into being champions. At the end of the 2020/2021 school year, our summer program will begin, and we will have workouts from 7:30am until 11am throughout the summer Monday through Thursday. We will be participating in several 7v7 tournaments and other camps to improve our player’s football fundamentals and skills. A tentative summer calendar is included in this handbook. I am extremely excited to get the 2021 football season started and I am so honored to serve as your head football coach. It’s a great day to be an Eagle!!!! Lenny Gregory Head Football Coach Collins Hill High School 1-25-2021 Head Football Coach, Lenny Gregory - BIO My name is Lenny Gregory, and I am married to Kathy Gregory, and together we have 6 children. I am originally from Santa Rosa, CA- Bay Area. I attended Brigham Young University on a football scholarship from 1989-1993. As a player for BYU, I was a four year letterman, and started 39 straight games on the defensive line from 1991-1993. In 1991 and 1993 I was named on the second team all-Western Athletic Conference team, and in 1992 was named on the first team all-conference team. After graduation I moved to West Virginia where I began a career in the hardwood lumber industry. I was involved in that industry as a business owner & in sales for 13 years. I relocated to the Atlanta, GA area in 1999. At that time I had the opportunity to enter into the football world again as a coach. For the past 12 years I have been coaching varsity high school football and working in education as a Special Education, Health and PE Teacher. My first opportunity as an educator was at Chattahoochee High School in 2007, where I was the Varsity Defensive Line Coach & Head Boys Golf Coach. In 2008 I moved to Grayson High School, where I spent 5 years coaching the defensive line, and two years as the defensive coordinator. During my 7 seasons at Grayson our teams had a record of 76 wins and 16 losses. During the 2011 season we were blessed to go 15-0 and win the Georgia 5A State Title. Grayson received several national rankings as high as #1 in the nation, and in 2011 finished in the top 5 in every national poll. In 2015 I took over the Centennial High School Football program where I led the Knights to 13 wins. In my 2nd season we advanced to the state playoffs with an 8-2 regular season record and hosted the school’s first playoff game since 2002. In 2017, I took over Collins Hill Football, that had a previous record of 2-8, and have reached the playoffs the last four seasons. Football is great, but more than anything I love working with kids and helping them realize their full potential. I am living my dream and loving life. I could not imagine why anyone would want to do anything else besides teach and coach high school kids. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Head Football Coach at Collins Hill High School. I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead a football program with so much potential. I am committed to building a program of excellence in everything we do. It is my belief that Collins Hill has the resources with outstanding student athletes and a great community of pride that will allow me to install a championship football program. I am so excited for the future that is ahead for the Collins Hill football program and our outstanding School, and Community.
