MARCH BIRTHDAYS DEACON’S REPORT 3 Addison McGee Yes, I am going back to prison in March to be a clergy member 8 Alan Gellert for Kairos 52 at Martin Correctional Institution. The team members have already had the first planning meeting at North 9 Steve Ankner Palm Beach Presbyterian Church. We have 43 team members and 12 Mary Painter will meet weekly at this church every Thursday evening until we 13 Susan Conrad go into the prison for our 3½ day intensive spiritual weekend 13 Joni Rhodes from March 19-22. 14 John Darlson 14 Karen Neff Kairos means “God's Special Time.” The weekend is based on the 15 Lelah Marzi Cursillo Program and was initially called Cursillo in Prison when it started right here in at Union Correctional Institution in 15 Sharyn Sirkle Raiford, FL. There are over thirty inside prison teams in Florida 16 Joyce Menard alone. The program is an ecumenical one and volunteers come 17 Eric Kuegler from almost every Christian denomination in the world who 18 Pat Ball believe in the Apostle's Creed. 19 Barbara Vitale 21 Marilyn Serus Like Cursillo it is a lay program led by lay members. Clergy are also included; every discussion table has a clergy member. The 23 Wally Wallace objective of Kairos is to share the transforming love and 27 John Kittleberger forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of 29 Pat Sacco incarcerated men, women and children as well as their families, 30 Janet Kempf allowing them to become loving and productive citizens of their 30 Brian Kolaci communities. 31 Chris Lycke Those of us who participate in this ministry, many have been doing it for 10-20 years, feel that not only do we help the residents, but we also get as much spiritually from this program as they do. These so often rejected members of our society get to feel hope for their lives. Somebody does really care about them.

As we get closer to the date of our weekend, I will again be asking for your specific support in signing up to pray for us at specified times during the weekend, providing us with posters and placemats for our meals which has been done by our Sunday School children and for financial assistance if possible. Each member of the team is asked to give $150 toward the costs of the MARCH weekend. We provide the residents with meals throughout the time we are there. We also have women come in at the end to ANNIVERSARIES serenade the men which is overwhelmingly powerful.

20 Nancy & Leo Mercier I have given you a brief glimpse of what Kairos is and would be 29 Katherine & Harry glad to talk with you more about the program if you have questions. Kapple

In God's love, Deacon Alan

ALL SAINTS’ ALTAR GUILD

Much has been going on with the Altar Guld since my last newsletter in the Fall! Our church was beautifully decorated for Thanksgiving with flowers and harvest items. Moving quickly into the Advent Season, there were many members who helped to beautify our Sanctuary. Memorial donations as well as offerings for Thanksgiving nearly covered the costs for all the flowers, wreaths and decorations. Thank you for all the kind comments about our work. It is not an easy task to follow the handiwork of Diane Dougiello with her many skills. I am grateful for all her support, knowledge and history of the workings of the Altar Guild.

January brought us the new beginning of not only the calendar year, but the Institution of Father Tony Holder. What a whirlwind of anticipation and inspiration as we awaited the date of January 12th and our new Rector! Decorating with white flowers throughout the church to complement the white vestments, all brass polished, all candles lit and an overflowing crowd into Houg Hall made for a most memorable day in the history of the “Little Church on the Hill”. I want to personally thank Ritchie Menard for the helpful work of securing all the contents of the church after the conclusion of the Service. I could not have done it without him as it was a full day of preparation and activities and his energy brought me renewed strength! After completing the formal Institution, Bishop Eaton asked the clergy to gather on the altar for a picture. Little did I know that I would be called into service to take the pictures!

“You are my refuge and shield: My hope is in your word.” Psalm 119

At the Annual Meeting on January 19 th, Father Tony presented an idea for the congregation to consider concerning our vestments. Following the Liturgical Calendar many parishes, including my old hometown, use pink vestments at times in Lent and Advent. If you would like to contribute to the purchase of any of the items, from a chasuble that Father Tony wears, to the covering for the pulpit, lectern or altar as a Memorial or Thanksgiving offering (which can be inscribed with embroidery) please speak to me or Father Tony.

Now as we come together for the Lenten Season, it is my prayer that you take the time to listen to the teachings of Christ and breathe in the peace that a Christ-centered life brings to your heart.

Respectfully submitted, Janet Galante Chairperson Altar Guild

PARISH PROFILES ALL SAINTS’ SUNDAY SCHOOL

FATHER TONY’S We hope everyone was able to BIRTHDAY! “gorge” themselves on pancakes at All Saints’ Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper before the fasting period of Lent began on February 26th. In Sunday School, over the next six This Photo by Un- weeks, we will be studying and learning about more ways we can be the shining light and also prepare for Easter.

I will be offering classes for children in 2 nd grade or higher in preparation for their First Communion on Easter Sunday, April 12th. Beginning March 8th, we will meet every Sunday from 9:00 – 9:45 for 5 weeks, through April 5 th. Each week the children will begin to learn about, understand and prepare for the most highest form of prayer, the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Please let me know if you would like your child to participate.

Just as a reminder, Easter will be on April 12 th. The children are invited to help flower the Easter Cross and have fun at our annual Easter Egg Hung after the 10:00 service. So save the date!

In Sunday School, we will continue to follow the Liturgical calendar as we read, study and learn about the Gospel/Lessons each week. Through stories, crafts, technology and/or hands- Father Tony’s birthday on activities, we will grow in our knowledge of Jesus and what celebration after 8am God wants us to do. church service. If you have friends or family with children who are not established in a church program, please tell them about ours. Our curriculum is dedicated to teaching the Gospel and Lessons of the Bible and building a relationship with Jesus, knowing and understanding the Liturgical Calendar, and actively participating in Community Outreach and church projects. Plus, making friends and having fun is a fringe benefit!

PEERING INTO THE PAST: 2000

The Annual Report published for the Annual Meetings seems like a pain in the neck at times, especially for those who have to write their annual summary. In retrospect, it tells the history of who All Saints’ each and every year. The Annual Report doesn’t tell us the context of what the county or Coast was going through at the time. It doesn’t give us demographics of the time for the parish. Despite all this, I hope you find this column worth a read.

ALL SAINTS’ WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP

Our February meeting was held in the jungles of Africa! As we all participated in our Women’s Fellowship annual High Tea, “High Tea Safari,” we were surrounded by hanging vines, wild animals and both jungle and Serengeti murals. Hosts and Hostesses, dressed as Safari Guides, had fun serving our 96 guests tea, assorted tea sandwiches, scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, petit fours, and mini cupcakes. The grand finale is always the Trifle Walk when our male hosts parade the delicious and beautiful trifles down the hall and deliver them to the tables. Delicious!

We had a great assortment of themed gift baskets donated by our members and one by First Watch for our basket raffles. Plus a beautiful jungle animal baby quilt, made by Joyce Menard, and Money Tree made for two more big raffles. We received so many compliments on the fun event. Our guests were already asking us what next year’s theme will be! This fundraiser was very successful. We raised just a little over $3,000! Thank you to everyone who helped out with decorating, cooking, selling tickets, manning the kitchen, serving and cleaning up! As always, we couldn’t do these great events without your wonderful support. And a HUGE thank you goes to Iris Langran for chairing the High Tea. Without her expertise, organization and knowledge our very popular High Tea would not be able to take place!

Our next meeting will be on Saturday, March 21 st at 9:30 in Houg Hall. Be on the lookout for an email detailing what will be on the agenda!

Just a reminder . . . as you continue to clean out your closets, cabinets and sheds, remember to please donate anything you think we could use for Holly Fair 2020. We’d be glad to take it off your hands! Thanks!

ALL women of All Saints’ Church are members of the Women’s Fellowship. It’s not something you have to “officially” join. You are already a member! Our purpose is to deepen the spiritual lives of the Women of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and to strengthen their participation in the mission and outreach of the Church and Community. It’s a great way to give back to the church, get to know each other better and help with All Saints’ community outreach. Plus, it’s fun! See you at our next meeting on March 21 st.

Blessings to you all.
