Their dinner menu is just as good - I recommend trying one of their fresh pasta dishes!

COFFEE/TEA

I MIGHT BE THE ONLY PERSON IN NEW YORK WHO DOESN’T DRINK

COFFEE, BUT I’VE ASKED MY FELLOW COFFEE DRINKERS FOR THEIR

INPUT, SO ENJOY!

WHEN I’M NOT COOKING AT HOME, THESE ARE MY FAVORITE SPOTS

TO GRAB DINNER AROUND THE CITY WITH FRIENDS OR FOR A SPECIAL

OCCASION!

+ +ABC Kitchen The best organic farm-to-table food around. There are so many menu options so it’s hard to choose, but it’s best to get a bunch of plates and share. You really can’t go wrong, but be sure to order the kimchi paella, edamame dumplings, popcorn chicken and the steak. You also must order one of their infamous Soju drinks that are served “capri-sun” style in plastic pouches.

+ +Sushi Yasaka This low-key neighborhood Sushi spot in Upper has the best Omakase around. When making a reservation, ask to sit at the sushi bar.

+ +Marumi Located right near NYU campus and , this is my favorite neighborhood Japanese restaurant. It’s not your typical Asian restaurant that churns out Seamless orders - they actually don’t even do delivery. It’s a no-frills neighborhood spot serving up delicious Japanese comfort food. While I’ve had their sushi before and I like it, I usually come here for their Bento Box or a big bowl of Udon.

Sullivan Street Eats NYC Guide 9 Food PIZZA

IT’S NOT A TRIP TO NEW YORK WITHOUT A PIECE OF PIZZA.

+ +Joe’s Pizza in West Village This no-frills establishment serves some of the best slices in New York. They have a few locations in and another in Williamsburg. Don’t be intimidated by the long line out the door, it moves quickly! I always keep it simple and go for their cheese slice, but if you are feeling adventurous you can go for one of their Sicilian Squares.

+ +Prince Street Pizza They are famous for their super thick Sicilian style pizza with sausage and pepperoni, the line is always out the door, but it’s SO worth it.

+ +Emily If you can’t make it all the way to their sister restaurant, Emmy Squared in Brooklyn, don’t worry because Emily will suffice. It’s Detroit style rectangular deep-dish pizza. I love coming here after work and ordering one of their signature cocktails with a few small bites.

+ +Bar Veloce This low-key wine bar in is a great spot for after work drinks or casual drinks with a friend. It never gets too loud so you can actually catch up over your glass of wine or Aperol Spritz.

+ +Mermaid Inn My go-to happy hour spot in New York. They serve $1.25 oysters, $5 beers, $7 wine and $8 cocktails.

MERMAID INN They also serve complimentary crackers and chocolate pudding with a fortune-telling fish at the end!

+ +Dante Voted #16 best bar in the world - Dante does not mess around. They serve the best Aperol Spritz on tap with an almond-filled olive, along with a long list of Negronis and other artisanal cocktails. Don’t be surprised if you come by on a weekend and get turned away because the bar is at capacity. This bar is always bustling, but you can grab a drink next door at Mermaid Inn while you wait for more seats to open up.

+ +Little Branch This West Village speakeasy is right off 7th Avenue in West Village, but you’d never know it’s there. Have an open mind and let one of the talented mixologists recommend a drink for you.

Sullivan Street Eats NYC Guide 12 Food To Do THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO IN NEW YORK AT ANY GIVEN TIME. MY

FAVORITE WAY TO SEE THE CITY IS BY WALKING ALL OF THE DIFFERENT

NEIGHBORHOODS.

+ +Walk along 5th Avenue and explore the famous shops. Be sure to stop at and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Then make your way up to Central Park. If you are hungry or need to refresh, stop into the food hall at the Plaza Hotel for a quick bite. If you have time, pop into the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You can easily spend a whole day inside, but I recommend at least 3 hours.

+ +Spend time in Madison Square Park. Sit in the park and people watch or pop over to Eataly if you need a quick bite to eat. Then make your way down through Flatiron district and down to Union Square. Stop by the Union Square Greenmarket which is open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8am-6pm.

+ +Spend the day in West Village and Chelsea. Walk along the Highline which is a repurposed railroad track and then visit The Whitney Museum. If you get hungry pop into Chelsea Market and visit one of the many local food vendors. I love Beyond Sushi for their healthy twist on sushi.

+ +Spend time sitting in Washington Square Park and people watch. Washington Square Park is a watering hole for NYU students, families, and couples. There is always live music going on or a performance of some kind. Walk around the park, or snag a spot on a bench and listen to the piano man or jazz quartet!

+ +Walk around SoHo, Nolita, Little Italy and Chinatown. SoHo is the best shopping area in the city. Prince Street, Spring Street and have every shop you can imagine. Pop over to Nolita for smaller boutiques and then move into Little Italy or Chinatown to explore the restaurant scenes.

+ +Walk along the towards and the Financial District. Stop and grab a drink at City Winery and then grab a bite to eat at Grand Banks Oyster bar.

+ +Tour the Freedom Tower, Oculus & Seaport.

Sullivan Street Eats NYC Guide 13 To Do Workout Studios ’S WORKING SCENE IS CONSTANTLY EVOLVING. IT SEEMS A

NEW BOUTIQUE WORKOUT STUDIO IS POPPING UP EVERY WEEK. NO MATTER

WHAT TYPE OF WORKOUT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, I’VE GOT YOU COVERED.

CYCLING + +Soul Cycle The fastest 45 minutes of your life. Soul Cycle is a high-energy full-body cycling class with lots of moving parts. You’ll climb hills, do sprints and finish with a weights section. The entire time you’ll be spinning to an amazing playlist and and get some serious motivation from one of the amazing instructors. Soul Cycle is truly my idea of church. You’ll leave every class feeling so accomplished and not to mention, dripping sweat. They have over 20 locations in the city.

+ +Flywheel A competitive style spinning class where your performance is tracked on a screen for everyone to see. If you are competitive then you’ll likely thrive in this environment. They have 10 studios throughout the city.

+ +Cyc Fitness Similar to Soul Cycle, you’ll ride to the beat of each song for 45 minutes. You’ll do hills, sprints, jumps and there’s even a weights section. They have four locations throughout the city.

HIIT WORKOUTS + +Switch Playground Switch Playground is exactly like it sounds. One big open gym where you “switch” circuits every two minutes. It focuses on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with zero time for breaks. There is a DJ playing music to keep you motivated throughout the circuits, and multiple trainers in one class in case you need help with the exercises. Since there are 2 people at each circuit station I recommend going with a friend for moral support!

Sullivan Street Eats NYC Guide 14 Workout Studios + +Fhitting Room Fhitting Room is a high intensity interval class that focuses on 5 main building blocks: functional movements, strength training, high intensity intervals, total body focus and highly varied exercises. You’ll start each class with a warmup and then move through a series of circuits before finishing with a final cooldown. The class is taught by 2 instructors and you’ll do things with a partner so I recommend going with a friend!

BOXING + +Everybody Fights This studio has a variety of different style classes to choose from: Train, Bags, Road, Fight, Flow which focus on either conditioning, technique or recovery. Each class focuses on a total body workout, but not every class involves bags and gloves. If you do decide to do one of their boxing classes, you’ll move through an interval-based training series that is 50 minutes and 12 rounds.

+ +Box + Flow This class could be considered the best of both worlds if you like boxing and yoga. Classes range from 45 minutes to an hour and you’ll start out with the high intensity of boxing and finish with a 15 minute flow to help you cool down. It’s a full body workout and I recommend going with a friend.

YOGA + +Yoga Vida Yoga Vida -This is my favorite yoga studio in the city. They offer lots of different classes for all skill levels. Their heated flow class is my favorite and I recommend the NoHo location!

+ +Y7 This studio features a fast-paced heated flow all to hip hop music. Each class moves through a flow at a slower pace, then links one breath to one movement followed by a freestyle where you can flow on your own. You’ll move through 3 different sequences. The candle-lit studio, heated room and hip hop music is a great change of pace from traditional yoga classes, but be prepared to be dripping sweat! I highly recommend taking a class with Bee Creal.

Sullivan Street Eats NYC Guide 15 Workout Studios + +Yogaworks A traditional yoga studio featuring a wide range of classes for all levels. The beginner classes cover all the basics, while the 2-3 level classes focus on perfecting poses and headstands. They also offer an introductory free week of unlimited yoga which is such an incredible deal!

BARRE + +Physique 57 Efficiency and effectiveness are the foundation for each class. Physique 57 classes are full-body barre workouts aimed at burning fat and transforming your body. They offer a range of different classes depending on your skill level, but I recommend their Signature or Mat 57 classes. All classes are one hour long and you’ll be working the entire hour.

+ +Pure Barre Lift, Tone, Burn is the Pure Barre philosophy. Each class begins with a warm up and then you move into arm work with a light set of weights. Following the arm section, you’ll move to the barre to focus on thigh work, then seat work, abs and a cool down. Each class follows the same sequence and you’ll be shaking within the first few minutes of the warm up. If you like repetition and consistency in each class, then this is the right studio for you.

+ +Exhale A boutique fitness studio offering barre, yoga, and cardio which makes it a one-stop-shop for a lot of your fitness needs. Their barre classes aim to strengthen, lengthen and help you find your core, while working all other muscles in your body. Each class involves pushups, planks, weights and ballet- inspired moves to help you sculpt all areas of your body.y.

PILATES + +New York Pilates I love the aesthetic of this studio. The white exposed brick, natural light and good music make you feel like you’re in an oasis the moment you walk in the door. Each class uses the spring-based resistance machines. The classes not only focus on strengthening your core, but also provide a full body workout that will leave you feeling sore for days.

Sullivan Street Eats NYC Guide 16 Workout Studios + +Wundabar pilates This California based workout has 1 studio in SoHo. If you enjoy reformer pilates then Wundabar is the place for you. Each workout goes by quickly, but you’ll definitely be sore for a few days after.

FULL BODY / SCULPT + +ModelFIT The ModelFIT method is simple: forget the burpees and jump squats and instead, embrace the repetitive pulsing movements to target specific areas of the body. ModelFIT offers two main types of classes: sculpt and cardio sculpt. Both classes incorporate weights and bands to sculpt your body, but the cardio sculpt adds a dance cardio element that makes each class go by so quickly. I highly recommend the cardio sculpt class. Be sure to take a class with Ashley Rosenberg!

RUNNING + +When in doubt, the best way to get a free workout in is by running. My recommended route is along the West Side Highway. It’s the most relaxing spot and is so nice to take in the views of while being near the water. Alternatively, if you’re uptown then you can run through Central Park.
