All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi made great progress in this period in improving the health of the people of India and neighbouring countries. In addition, this year we pledged to make AIIMS, India’s first public hospital to become completely environment-friendly so that it can rightfully carry the ‘green healthcare tag.’ Going Green AIIMS, New Delhi supported by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) set in motion wheels of change towards going green. AIIMS plans to conserve energy, maximise use of solar energy and other natural resources, reduce water consumption, have in place water conservation and waste water recycling systems, and work on urban heat island effect to reduce microclimate heat by 3 oC, energy consumption by 30% and water consumption by 50%.
