The characters of Jamie and Cathy continually remind us of the dangers that expectation can have on, not just romantic, but all variations of human relationships. I chose to produce The Last Five Years because this musical so brilliantly portrays the intimate and often hidden moments that make up a relationship; making it unmistakably familiar to audiences who have experienced the trials of love and loss. Vulnerably told through Jason Robert Brown’s soaring melodies and tight, witty lyrics, The Last Five Years tells the very human story of the struggles we face when we commit ourselves to blind love. Brown wrote this piece after concluding his own five-year marriage, influencing him to create a unique and dynamic form of storytelling; having the show begin at the end of the relationship for Cathy and the beginning for Jamie.

    2008 Construction Bond Communications Plan Introduction The purpose of this communication plan is to ensure Salem-Keizer Public Schools upholds its pledge to the community to provide transparency and accountability in the implementation of the 2008 school construction bond. On November 4, 2008, voters in the Salem-Keizer Public Schools District approved a $242.1 million construction bond to address key renovations, repairs and upgrades to schools to improve safety and provide an adequate learning environment for all students. The list of approved bond projects also includes the construction of three new elementary schools and one middle school to relieve overcrowding. Ten years prior, In November 1998, our community approved a $177.1 million construction bond. These funds, also collected from property taxes, paid for renovations and repairs at a majority of our schools and built 10 new schools, including West Salem High School. Through good fiscal management and the work of our community oversight committee, the 1998 bond projects were completed on time and under budget. Goals The goals of the 2008 Bond Construction Communications Plan are • To facilitate two-way communication with our internal and external publics regarding bond measure implementation in such a way that our publics are proud of the completed projects and have the highest confidence in our ability to implement such projects in the future. • To build the capacity of our key communicators to represent the operations of our school district in a productive manner. Strategies Three strategies will be emphasized in the 2008 Construction Bond Communications Plan: • Empowering school and department-level administrators to maintain, improve and use their key communicator networks.

DAY CELEBRATION Monday, January 15th Several Civil Rights organizations are coming together to sponsor a Celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. Monday, January 15th McKay High School 11:30 a.m. Speakers will address the crowd from 11:30 – 12:30 and there will be a March at 12:45 following the speakers. The March will travel from McKay High School to Lancaster Drive and back to McKay High School. There will be food, music and a celebration following the March. Sprague High School’s very own Geovanny Tolentino (12th grade) will ​ ​ be one of the speakers. We hope to see you there! Semester 2 Schedule Change Request: The schedule request link is live. Students will need to login to StudentVue to see their second semester schedule. If a student wants to request a schedule change, the following steps must be taken: 1. These young ladies volunteered their afternoon on Saturday (12/3) at the annual Fall Leaf Haul. This is a free leaf disposal event for Salem residents and they helped unload leaves from vehicles. It's a cold, wet and dirty job but they did it with enthusiasm and smiles. Dress decade and be prepared to support a good cause and kick it old school! Sprague’s Health and PE department want to thank all of our students for combining together to donate over $1,450 to our Hoover Elementary Gift Bags. Due to the generosity of our students, we were able to provide 103 gift bags for 4 classes of nd 2 ​ graders at Hoover. We also want to give a big ​ shout out to our corporate sponsor and Sprague alumni Dr. Cole Johnson of Johnson Family Orthodontics for donating 103 dental care packages for each of our gift bags.
