The distribution of Bufotes latastii, a diploid green toad species, is analyzed based on field observations and literature data. 74 localities are known, although 7 ones should be confirmed. The range of B. latastii is confined to northern Pakistan, Kashmir Valley and western Ladakh in India. All records of “green toads” (“Bufo viridis”) beyond this region belong to other species, both to green toads of the genus Bufotes or to toads of the genus Duttaphrynus. B. latastii is endemic to the Western Himalaya. Its allopatric range lies between those of bisexual triploid green toads in the west and in the east. B. latastii was found at altitudes from 780 to 3200 m above sea level. Environmental niche modelling was applied to predict the potential distribution range of the species. We can found different types of animals and their species. Amphibians are commonly found in every states of India. In this article we are going to talking about different types of amphibian found in Rajasthan. In This article we take two family of frog for external study purpose. We are going to discuss about family Rana and family Buffo and their characteristics. We take seven species for our acknowledgment. Those seven species are majorly found in Rajasthan. Keywords: biodiversity, amphibians, Rajasthan Introduction Rajasthan state is having area of 3.42 Lacks Sq. Km and it is the largest state in the Country. It is having 33 Districts under seven administrative divisions. In Rajasthan(ca. 1,32,077 sq. miles),amphibian fauna (frogs and toads) are common species, the western three-fifths of which form the great Indian Desert, has hitherto been hardly known except for McCann's (1943) short account of the fauna in the Abu Hills of Rajasthan. Lately the desert has been reported to be changing physio logocially and climatically. It has, therefore, become Fig 1 imperative to study it from all points of view. -

M. HILLIARD &B.L.BURTT Nineteen miscellaneous species of Bornean Cyrtandra are dealt with. Cyrtandra atrichoides, C. congestiflora, C. crockerella, C. dulitiana, C. kanae, C. libauensis, C. plicata, C. vaginata and C. disparoides subsp. inconspicua are newly described. Descriptions and discussion are provided for C. erythrotricha and C. poulsenii, originally published with diagnoses only. Cyrtandra axillaris, C. longicarpa and C. microcarpa are also described, while C. borneensis, C. dajakorum, C. glomeruliflora, C. latens and C. prolata are reduced to synonymy. Keywords. I NTRODUCTION A good many species of Cyrtandra in Borneo still remain undescribed; some available specimens are known to us only in the sterile state or are otherwise inadequate to typify a name. In this paper eight species and one subspecies are newly described. Burtt (1996) published new species with diagnoses only: C. erythrotricha B.L.Burtt and C. poulsenii B.L.Burtt are now fully described while C. glomeruliflora B.L.Burtt is reduced to synonymy under C. poulsenii. Full descriptions of C. axillaris C.B.Clarke and C. microcarpa C.B.Clarke are also given for the first time with the reduction of C. latens C.B.Clarke and C. dajakorum Kraenzl. -

Lesure, U.S. Geological Survey and Mark L. Chatman, U.S. Bureau of Mines 1983 Studies Related to Wilderness Under the provisions of the Wilderness Act (Public Law 88-577, September 3, 1964) and related acts, the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Bureau of Mines have been conducting mineral surveys of wilderness and primitive areas. Areas officially designated as "wilderness," "wild," or "canoe" when the act was passed were incorporated into the National Wilderness Preservation System, and some of them are presently being studied. The act provided that areas under consideration for wilderness designation should be studied for suitability for incorporation into the Wilderness System. The mineral surveys constitute one aspect of the suitability studies. The act directs that the results of such surveys are to be made available to the public and be submitted to the President and the Congress. This report discusses the results of a mineral survey of the Snowbird Roadless Area (08-061), Nantahala National Forest, Graham County, North Carolina. The area was classified as a further planning area during the Second Roadless Area Review and Evaluation (RARE II) by the U.S. Forest Service, January 1979. MINERAL RESOURCE POTENTIAL SUMMARY STATEMENT The Snowbird Roadless Area includes 8490 acres of rugged wooded terrain in the Nantahala National Forest, Graham County, N. C. The area is underlain by folded metasedimentary rocks of the Great Smoky Group of Late Proterozoic age, and has a low potential for mineral resources. -

The ten new species described in this paper are: X. bicolor W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. brachystachyum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. crassum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. inflatum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. ionanthum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. longum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. nitidum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. pachycarpon W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, X. rectum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes and X. rheophilum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes, and the new variety is X. griffithii A.W. Benn var. papillosum W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes. New taxonomic status has been accorded to X. adenotus Miq. var. arsatii (C.E.C. Fisch.) W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes and X. lineare (Meijden) W.J. de Wilde & Duyfjes. Introduction During the study of Xanthophyllum carried out in the BO, KEP, L, SAN, SAR and SING herbaria for the account of Polygalaceae in the Tree Flora of Sabah and Sarawak, several new taxa were defined. Their taxonomic position within the more than 50 species of Xanthophyllum recognised in Sabah and Sarawak will be clarified in the treatment of the family in the forthcoming volume of the Tree Flora of Sabah and Sarawak series. -

New York Natural Heritage Program ii Executive summary Vulnerability assessments are rapidly becoming an essential tool in climate change adaptation planning. As states revise their Wildlife Action Plans, the need to integrate climate change considerations drives the adoption of vulnerability assessments as critical components. To help meet this need for New York, we calculated the relative vulnerability of 119 of New York’s Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) using NatureServe’s Climate Change Vulnerability Index (CCVI). E-mail: [email protected] Abstract We describe a new species of Amerotyphlops from an upland forest enclave in the state of Paraíba, Northeastern Brazil. The new species is distinguished from the other seven South American species of Amerotyphlops by the combination of the following characters: nasal suture incomplete; rostral scale oval and yellowish cream with some dark brown spots; four supralabial scales; three infralabial scales; rows of scales around the body 18/18/18; middorsal scales from 204 to 225; dorsum with twelve to thirteen rows of scales dark brown and belly with four to five rows of scales immaculate yel- lowish cream; caudal spine dark brown; subcaudal scales 8–10 in female and 11–13 in males; maximum total length 233 mm.
