The group has formed to consider alternative modes of looking at the environment as a social and physical relationship. It uses the University of Toronto as a localization of these relations and invites input to support and give entry to unique ways of doing academia. We include nonformal or extracurricular activities. Art is featured as one way to assist a move beyond the capabilities of current disciplinary formats. The group originated within women's studies and the proposal is for now titled: Women, Environment and Art – a Transdisciplinary focus. However, we invite any faculty and graduate students to input to the project and join the group. The working group members are required to participate in the 8 meetings over the term of 2011-12. These are currently planned as round tables and panels with visitors and members. There will be a symposium in the spring with workshops and speakers will be invited.
