  • 'Basis of Parish Grouping'
Dear Church Member 2nd April 2021 With this letter you will find the Aberdeen West Churches ‘Basis of Parish Grouping’. The Aberdeen Presbytery Plan agreed last summer put in place a RoadMap for the congregations of Cults, Craigiebuckler, Kingswells, Mannofield and Peterculter covering the next 10 years. This moves through the stages of Grouping, Linkage (or Linkages), and finally the end objective of Union (or Unions) within the lifetime of the Plan. The Presbytery, in agreeing this Plan, endorsed the work and conclusions of our own Kirk Sessions that had established a Working Group to consider our shared future. We have reached the point of seeking agreement of the congregations to move into a Parish Grouping from this Summer. As you will note from the Basis of Grouping, the Administration and Ministry of our individual congregations does not in any way change at this stage. This Basis of Grouping allows us to continue our good work of the past year and to discover new ways to share in the responsibility of Outreach to our Parish areas. The Grouping allows us to support each other in our respective work and gives encouragement to seek new ways of growing our relationship and strength. Normally in the Church of Scotland when changes of this type are proposed and decided, after Kirk Sessions have agreed to the change, the members of the congregation are called to attend a congregational meeting at which a vote is taken. In these times this is not permissible and so the Church of Scotland has provided a ‘Protocol’ for allowing such changes to be discussed and agreed legally without the need of an ‘in-person’ meeting.

  • 3 Alternatives Considered
Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route Environmental Statement Part A: The Scheme 3 Alternatives Considered 3.1 Introduction 3.1.1 This chapter provides an outline of the development of the AWPR including an overview of the assessment work that has been undertaken in the selection of a preferred route and a summary of the objectives of the proposed scheme. 3.2 Background 3.2.1 As described in Chapter 2 (Need for the Scheme), a peripheral route around Aberdeen has been considered since the 1950s, and in the 1990s a western leg route corridor was proposed (the Western Peripheral Route; WPR). The WPR as identified by Grampian Regional Council and its successor authorities was subsequently extended to link with the A90 north of Aberdeen by NESTRANS. The route corridor comprising the WPR and this additional link was named the AWPR and in April 2003 was adopted and promoted by the Scottish Executive as a Trunk Road within a funding partnership of the Scottish Executive, Aberdeen City Council, and Aberdeenshire Council. 3.2.2 The AWPR was refined within this corridor from April 2003 until December 2004, when Transport Scotland requested that consideration be given to additional corridors. In December 2005, following consideration of the alternative corridors, including public consultation held in Spring 2005, the Minister for Transport announced that the AWPR would be taken forward on the Milltimber Brae Route with a Fastlink to Stonehaven. 3.2.3 Various options have been considered at each of the stages described above. The option consideration process included production of many reports and papers that set out the engineering, economic and environmental advantages and disadvantages of alternative routes and corridors.

  • KN001 Land at Burnside Croft, Drumlithie
ABERDEENSHIRE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2021 LAND AT BURNSIDE CROFT DRUMLITHIE PROPOSED SMALL SCALE HOUSING SITE Introduction The welcomes the opportunity of early engagement with Aberdeenshire Council regarding the preparation of the next Local Development Plan. In this regard the has been commissioned by to bring to the attention of the Planning Authority the opportunity for a limited extension of the settlement boundary of Drumlithie. A site plan accompanies this ‘bid’. Background The site was considered through the Examination process associated with the current Local Development Plan. In this regard it is useful to consider the comments of the Reporter. He concluded: “4. This modest triangular site falls within the protected land designation P1, which is intended “to conserve the woodland corridor and amenity area for the village”. The site does have a rather unkempt appearance, and given it relates well to the village and site OP1 I consider that a modest development which retained the trees adjacent to the burn, together with the two mature trees on the western boundary of the site, would not compromise the integrity of the P1 designation. 5. Whilst I find the site does have some planning merit, the inclusion of this site is unjustified as a structured environmental assessment process has not been undertaken, nor is there evidence of public engagement, contrary to paragraph 118 of Circular 6/2013 ‘Development Planning’. On this basis no modifications are recommended. There is however scope for a small‐scale proposal on the site to be considered through the development management process, in the context of policy R2.” Clearly, the Reporter had some sympathy for my client.

The start of the year was marked by the appearance of our first Nuthatch, a species currently expanding its range in Scotland. Unusual wildfowl in the first winter period included two long-staying Smews, up to five Surf Scoters and a Green-winged Teal. Waxwings were widespread in small numbers and the first of two Mediterranean Gulls for the year was a striking adult on Loch Spynie. Spring arrivals continued the early trend of recent years with record early dates for Swift, Cuckoo, Sedge Warbler and Spotted Flycatcher.

The hotel was surrounded by a very large garden full of greenery and, as in many other parts of the world, it was used for the wedding photographs. Now, being Ethiopia, we are not talking about (relatively) well behaved groups of relatives being marshalled into formal groups.
