COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS ACTIVATE LEFT WING JORDAN SCHROEDER OFF INJURED RESERVE AND LOAN TO AHL’S Club also assigns right wing Kole Sherwood to OHL’s Flint Firebirds

COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The have activated left wing Jordan Schroeder off Injured Reserve and loaned him for conditioning purposes to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’ affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The club has also assigned right wing Kole Sherwood from Cleveland to the Ontario Hockey League’s Flint Firebirds.

Schroeder, 27, who missed the first three games of the campaign after suffering an upper body injury in the preseason, has recorded 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points with 10 minutes and a +9 plus/minus rating in 144 career NHL games with the Wild and Canucks since making his NHL debut in 2012-13. Last , he tallied 6-7-13 and was +5 in 37 games with Minnesota, setting career highs in goals, assists, points and games played. He added 6-12-18 and 12 penalty minutes in 25 AHL games with the .

The Prior Lake, Minnesota native has collected 77-118-195 in 292 career AHL games with Iowa, Utica, Chicago and Manitoba. Acquired by Columbus from Minnesota in exchange for center Dante Salituro on June 23, 2017, Schroeder was originally Vancouver’s first round pick, 22nd overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft.

Sherwood, 20, has spent the past two seasons in the OHL, where he registered 45-74-119 with 113 penalty minutes and a +22 plus/minus rating in 123 games with the Flint Firebirds and London Knights. He notched 33-52-85, 60 penalty minutes and was +13 in 60 games with Flint in 2016-17. He made his professional debut with Cleveland at the end of the campaign, skating in two games. The Blue Jackets signed the New Albany, Ohio native as a free agent to a three- year entry level contract on July 7, 2015.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Friday when they host the New York Rangers at Nationwide Arena. Game time is 7 p.m. ET.
