It is ideally suited for medium to fast greens and is especially good on end rinks indoors where jack displacement is an issue. Having a flatter profile and a narrower width provides the bowler with greater comfort and control of the bowl. Bowlers can be confident when using the Dreamline model, as this 'ergo shape' enables all bowlers an opportunity to improve their consistency and performance. The Dreamline has a weaker bias that any other Henselite model in the UK range. Code DLG Henselite Tiger II Bowl The Tiger II was the third member of the Ergo family of bowls, complimenting the very successful Dreamline and Tiger models. There is a growing trend in many clubs for a slightly wider bias bowl than the Dreamline. The Tiger II is a mid biased model, which will suit the player looking for a multi purpose set of bowls. The Tiger II has a gentle and predictable trajectory; it is the widest drawing of the "narrow" biased bowls currently available. It is highly suited to all players including skips who may require a bowl that has a relatively strong finish to draw around short bowls in the head. Code HCG 2 Tiger Pro Henselite Tiger Pro Given the successes of both the Tiger and the Tiger II we found that top bowlers were still looking for a bias choice between the Tiger and Tiger II lines. After a period of testing the Tiger PRO bias was manufactured as that, ‘in between bias bowl’, that is much sought after. The PRO has now become the fourth member of the Ergo shape range. To be approved by the World Bowls Board one day and used by Alex Marshall the next when partnering Carol Ashby to win the World Indoor Mixed Pairs says a lot about the quality and trust that top players have in the bias consistency of the Henselite brand. Code HTPROG 3 Tiger Henselite Tiger Bowl The Tiger is a full biased model, which was initially developed because of the increasing need for a model that suits a multitude of playing speeds both indoor and outdoor. The Tiger will suit both the competitive player and the more socially orientated players. The Tiger has proved to be easily the most successful "TV tournament" model since its introduction with it being used by the last 8 World Indoor Singles Champions in the last 8 years. Due to the Ergo profile, the Tiger is appealing to both new and existing bowlers who require improved grip control. Code HTG 4 Classic/Classic II Series C AVAILABLE COLOURS Black Henselite Classic Bowl At one time the Henselite Classic model was the largest selling bowl in the world. This bowl was established in 1930 and is still the standard in most countries. The Classic has been used by the winners of more gold medals at World Bowls and Commonwealth Games than any other model bowl. This is one of the reasons why the Classic bowl remains popular to this day. The wider shape provides good stability on windy days. The bowl with the famous 'Hockey Stick Bias' is an excellent wide drawing Bowl for holding greens and is available in Medium and Heavy weights. Code BEG Henselite Classic II Bowl The Classic II is the original narrow biased bowl. This narrow version has less bias than the original "Classic" model. Manufactured with a traditional Classic bias for bowlers who play on all types of greens and that require a consistent draw. The Classic II with its midstrength bias is well suited to slower outdoor green speeds if 11 to 14 seconds. The bowl also performs well on faster indoor carpets in the UK. It has a distinctive trajectory commonly referred to as a "hockey stick" finish. The Classic II is recognised for its ability to draw around cluttered heads. Available in Medium and Heavy weights. True, the men have not won a gold medal at the event since the 1976 whitewash of the world at Zoo Lake, but SA’s women have twice won the event and generally shine. This me, however, for some unfathomable reason, the men struggled throughout; the women threatened to do well in all events, but again, disappoinngly faded, leaving only the triples, who won bronze, to play near to potenal. This does not in any way suggest the Proteas played badly. Far from it, they are the best we have, deserving their places. But those armchair crics shoung for heads to roll do not see it that way (rugby, soccer, swimming, golf are treated much the same) and express the country’s insaable demand for success. Never mind the clichés and the “wise” nodding heads, other naons are allowed to play well; in bowls, if club players think clearly, they know a rub, a wick, a minute measure can change the nature of a game in a heartbeat; few codes see acute score change as can occur in a single head of bowls.     Gold and silver for classy Proteas By Alan Simmonds, Media Officer, Bowls SA Gold in the men’s trips and silver in the women’s fours went to South Africa’s Proteas at Cardiff’s Penylan club, with Israel, England, Wales also going gold in the Atlantic Championships. Yesterday was the climax of the event’s first week – the past six days of the championships featured 25 countries from the European, African and South American theatres at four host clubs around the Welsh capital. The reverse of this week’s programme of men’s pairs and triples along with women’s singles and fours gets under way today. In the blue riband women’s singles gold medal match it was experienced Ruti Gilor from Israel who prevailed over pocket-sized Guernsey dynamo Lucy Beere, winning 21-15 after 24 ends. The first half of the 21 shots-up final was a dour affair with scores peeled at 11-apiece after 14 ends. However, the excitement level lifted over the following 10 when the 64-year-old Israeli star moved up a gear to claim the points on eight ends adding 14 shots to four as she powered to victory. England’s Jamie Walker and Steve Mitchinson achieved a great result at Penylan when they clinched the men’s pairs gold medal, beating Scottish superstars Alex Marshall and Paul Foster in their 18-end final. Earlier today the much-awaited men’s triples final saw a rejuvenated South African trio, under the astute guidance of hard man Billy Radloff, topple Scotland’s irrepressible Commonwealth Games champions Ronnie Duncan, Derek Oliver and Darren Burnett.

    Embargoed until 10:00hrs Tuesday 25 March 2014 EXPERIENCED LAWN BOWLS LINE-UP WILL BE KEY TO TEAM SCOTLAND SUCCESS Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS) in conjunction with Bowls Scotland, today announced the ten lawn bowlers selected to represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games this summer. Nine of the 10 bowlers have competed in a total of 18 Commonwealth Games between them and with three Gold medals to their credit, their international experience is sure to be the key to success this summer. Five men and five women will make up the full quota of lawn bowlers who will compete at the Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre 24 July – 1 August 2014, against the magnificent backdrop of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Each bowler will compete in two of four events: Singles or Fours and Pairs or Triples. However with four months until the start of the Games, head coach, David Gourlay has pledged to keep details of the events in which each bowler will play under wraps, to maximise tactical advantage. Lawn bowls is one of ten core sports at the Commonwealth Games for men and women and has been included in every Games programme, with the exception of Kingston, Jamaica in 1966. Scotland has a long tradition of success in lawn bowls winning a total of 28 medals including 13 Gold. Having missed out on the medal podium in Delhi, the sport appointed David Gourlay as head coach, who introduced a new approach to preparation. As a direct result Scotland’s bowlers returned to winning ways in 2012, winning six medals at the World Championships in Adelaide, three of them gold.

    HONG KONG LAWN BOWLS ASSOCIATION • GOLDEN JUBILEE Hong Kong International Bowls Classic As the tournament is now World renowned, it is worth remembering how it all began. In 1980, the concept of holding an international bowling tournament in Hong Kong was suggested by Philip Chok and O. K. Dallah to the President, Geoff Murphy. With his committee of Keith Bosley, Pete Smith, Elmo D’Souza, Tiny Conway and Nat Ulla, and with sponsorship forthcoming, plans were implemented. A sub-committee of Jim Viney, Ken Wallis, Roger Pickford, Jimmy Kellock and Mike Fergusen was also formed and with a lot of hard work, the Classic went underway. 1981-1990 The first Hong Kong International Bowls Classic (Classic) was held in 1981 between 24th and 29th November at the Kowloon Bowling Green Club (KBGC). Seven overseas teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand and New Castle District of Australia, plus teams from Hong Kong, CCC, CdeR, HKFC, USRC, IRC, KBGC, KCC and HKCC were divided into two sections of eight which played a seven game round robin with the top two teams advancing into the semi-finals. England and Scotland won their section respectively and the runners- up were New Zealand and New Castle District who had come second in its section with a better difference of two shots over Hong Kong Football Club.
