Bedales, St Swithun’s School, Winchester College are within about 12 miles. Ropley has a primary school in the village which is a feeder school for Perins School in Alresford. Alresford Golf Club is about 5.8 miles away, there is trout fishing on the Rivers Itchen, Test and Meon. Sailing enthusiasts have the Solent and south coast to enjoy and the nearest race courses are at Newbury and Goodwood. Day to day shopping is catered for in the S Georgian market town of Alresford, which has a superb selection of local shops, amenities, restaurants and public houses. A more comprehensive range of facilities can be found in nearby Winchester, Petersfield or Basingstoke where there are also theatres and cinemas. Grange Park, famous for its open air summer opera, is within about 3 miles. Ropley is superbly positioned for access to M both Winchester and Petersfield, as well as London via the A31/A3. Winchester has a fast and regular train service to London Waterloo taking about an hour. Southampton Airport (about 21 miles) has flights to an increasing number of national and European destinations. Gardens and grounds There is no doubt that the gardens and grounds at Ropley Grove are quite magnificent. Sweeping, gently terraced lawns with an avenue of cherry trees create a vista leading from the south façade up to the grass tennis court. To the sides is mature woodland with paths meandering through them to the swimming pool (approximately 45 x 20 feet) and court. Well established flower borders grace the house itself, as does a wisteria and climbing roses. One of the most wonderful aspects of the grounds is the part-walled kitchen garden which successfully produces vegetables and fruit including peaches and figs. Within this area are greenhouses and a potting shed. There are paddocks to the east of the house, a small area of which has been fenced off for solar panels which generates an income for the house (for further details please ask the Agents). It was unanimously resolved that the Minutes of Ordinary meeting held on 3rd July 2018 be accepted as an accurate record and were duly signed by the Chairman. 4 Matters arising from the minutes - Meeting to review Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and Risk Assessment – update. See Item 6. - Missing stiles on footpaths – TD TD provided an update, read out by the Clerk. The footpath that runs parallel to the Petersfield Road and across to the Station is completely overgrown and is about 50 metres long. Clerk also received correspondence from resident concerning two blocked Rights of Way. I understand Ropley Parish Council is responsible for keeping local Right of Ways clear. If this is correct, would it be possible for urgent action to be taken regarding the two Right of Ways within Colebrook Field development? Both of these are currently impassable. One Right of Way runs from Colebrook Field down to the A31 and the second from Colebrook Field to Ropley Station.

    Registered Charity No 1064723 Spring 2017 Newsletter Special Edition The Rosemary Foundation is very grateful to those kind people who have remembered the Foundation in their will. Chairman’s letter for Spring Newsletter A happy, if slightly belated, New Year to you all. May it bring you health, peace and prosperity. Some of you will know about the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the regulatory body that ensures standards of healthcare across a broad spectrum. In early December, the CQC gave the Rosemary Foundation 48 hours’ notice of a detailed inspection of our operation. This involved two inspectors spending the day going through our procedures, policies and practices with staff, as well as speaking to other healthcare providers, relatives of those we have cared for, trustees and other staff. For those involved, it was an intense, tiring process. I am more than delighted that the CQC’s report, of which a more detailed summary can be read elsewhere in this newsletter, gave the Foundation a glowing report. The overall rating was “Good”, with good gradings in the areas of safety, effectiveness, caring and leadership. You will not be surprised to learn that the rating for responsiveness to people’s needs was outstanding. In fact, there was not one criticism of the service, there were no recommendations for things that might be improved, and the word “outstanding” featured several times in the report. This has led several people, including me, to wonder exactly what you have to do in order to get an overall rating of outstanding. Nevertheless, this was a great report, and we are all immensely proud of the team who provide such a wonderful service to our community.
