    SuStainable Development Framework report KURMITAR IRON ORE MINES O.M.C LTD. 2016-17 Page 1 of 27 Introduction: Kurmitar iron ore mines of OMC is located around the Khandadhar Hill ( 830m) featured in the Survey of India Top sheet no. 73 G/1& 2.The mining lease, bounded between Latitude 210 44’08.88756” to 210 45’ 32.18004’’ N & Longitude 850 10’ 55.23828’’ to 850 10’57.49632”E falls in Sundargarh District of Odisha. Kurmitar Iron Ore Mines is well connected to Barsuan and Rourkela by Black Top Road. Initially OMC was holding mining lease over an area of 1212.470 Ha for 20 years from 29/04/1965 , now it is revised to 651.00 Ha. The period of mining lease extended upto 31.03.2035. Currently OMC has forest clearance over an area of 133.112 Ha. (Stage-II) and balance area of 517.888 Ha (Stage-I). The mining activities are carried out by espousing latest mining technology in a highly efficient manner. We do credence in the comprehensive compliances of all the statutory clearances, returns and implementation of the same with true spirit. The project is very strictly following all statutory compliance of MoEF & CC, IBM, DGMS, CGWA/CGWB and SCPB/CPCB. Sustainable Development Framework In a bid to ensure minimal impact of iron ore mining on the environment and human settlement, the union Ministry for Mines has implemented a “Star Rating” system for mining leases to promote sustainable development practices, which includes addressing the social impact of resettlement and rehabilitation and key information’s of the mining activity including mines basic information’s environmental safe guard measures, CSR activities as a whole.

    DETAILS OF ALTERNATE SITES CONSIDERED AND THE BASIS OF SELECTING THE PROPOSED SITE The proposed Iron Ore grinding and desliming unit with slurry pumping station would be located near Joda to transport 30.0 MTPA iron ore slurry to the ISP located near Paradeep in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. The following factors were considered in selecting the above mentioned location: i) Proximity to the iron ore mines with abundant reserve ii) Quality of iron ore available in these mines are in conformity to the requirement ii) Availability of adequate land and other infrastructure including water and power In order to set up Iron ore grinding & desliming plant, three potential sites have weighed against few critical factors for selection of the most suitable site. The evaluation of the site is presented in the table below. Under its Annual Action Plan 2018-19, all the districts of Odisha have been taken up for the survey. This Industrial Potentiality Survey Report of Keonjhar district covers various parameters like socio- economic indicators, present industrial structure of the district, and availability of industrial clusters, problems and prospects in the district for industrial development with special emphasis on scope for setting up of potential MSMEs. The report provides useful information and a detailed idea of the industrial potentialities of the district.     Information( 13 Tahasil & 80 R.I. Offices) CHAMPUA TAHASIL Champua Tahasil started functioning w.e.f. 01.04.1963. The total area of this Tahasil is Ac. 84,754.274. (342.98 SQ. KMS.) This Tahasil is coming under the jurisdiction of Champua Sub- Division and the area of this Tahasil is co-terminus with the area of Champua Block and Champua NAc consisting six R.I. circles namely Champua, Jyotipur, Chimila, Remuuli, Karanjia and Bhanda. This Tahasil is constituted with 151 revenue villages under 23 G.Ps. and newly created Champua NAC which coveres three police stations namely Champua, Joda (part) and Baria(part) . The total population of the Tahasil is 1, 15,103 as per 2011 census. Communication facilities are available from Tahasil head quarter to District head quarter. The principal income source of the people is cultivation and business. Champua Tahasil is situated 50 Kms away from District Headquarters. This Tahasil is surrounded by Maurbhanj District in east, Barbil Tahsil in west, Singhbhum District of Jharkhand State in north and Jhumpura Tahasil in south. Brief notes on R.I. Circles Under Champua Tahasil Champua : This R.I. circle is consisting of 17 revenue villages covering Rajia G.P. and newly declared Champua NAC having area of Ac.11,967.650. All the 17 villages are coming under jurisdiction of Champua P.S. and co-terminus with the area of Rajia G.P. and Champua NAC. Chimila : This R.I. circle is consisting of 27 villages covering Kodagadia, Jamudalak, Sunaposi and Kutariposi G.Ps. having area of Ac.14,484.513.
