Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek has announced the addition of Depuies Bryce Sweeney, Jake Loux, Michael Hynes, Alex Armstrong, and Addison Brooks to the Johnson County Sher- iff’s Office. Bryce Sweeney was raised in Sioux City and attended UNI, where he played football and obtained a degree in criminology. Deputy Sweeney graduated from ILEA on August 16. Jake Loux was raised in Clarion, served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in California, and graduated from ILEA on August 16. Deputy Alex Armstrong Deputy Bryce Sweeney Michael Hynes was raised in central Illi- nois, graduated from the and has 15 years experience in law enforce- ment in Iowa and Illinois. Deputy Hynes is married with two children. Alex Armstrong was raised in Iowa City, graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in criminology, law and justice. Deputy Armstrong will attend ILEA in January 2020. Addison Brooks was raised in Maquoketa. She attended college in California, and comes from a law enforcement family: her father is with Delaware County, mother at Linn Coun- ty and brother with the Iowa State Patrol. With great sadness, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office announces that Retired Deputy Paul Whitmore passed away on September, 24th, 201 Paul fought a tough battle with cancer for several years. Paul was an inspiration to all, and he kept a positive attitude and always had a smile on his face. Paul was a Deputy Sheriff with Ham- ilton County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years and retired on June 30th, 2015. Prior to the Sheriff’s Office, Paul was a police of- ficer for the City of Webster City for nine years. Paul leaves behind his wife, Cris, of 39 years’ two children: a son, Brian, and his wife Kim, and a daughter Kelly and her husband Craig and four grandchildren.
