District Profile - Kathmandu Valley (as of 10 Jan 2017) HRRP This district profile outlines the current activities by partner organisations (POs) in post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction. It is based on 4W and secondary data collected from POs on their recent activities pertaining to housing sector. Further, it captures a wide range of planned, ongoing and completed activities within the HRRP framework. For additional information, please refer to the HRRP dashboard. The 19th Earthquake Safety Day was celebrated in Shankharapur municipality from 15-18 Jan, addressed by honorable prime minister himself. 3. A two day National Symposium on “Learning from Gorkha Earthquake: Reconstruc- tion, Risk Reduction and Preparedness” was held on 26-27 Jan in Kathmandu. Major issues and challenges raised in the symposium were: effectiveness/availability of technical assistance; social awareness and unavailability of labor; regulation of ongoing reconstruction; availability of construction materials; land and policy related issues. 4. The first HRRP Kathmandu Valley Coordination Meeting were held on 18 Jan. It is identified that technical assistance/training activities remain a huge gap in the valley, especially in Lalitpur district due to lack of partner presence and limited focus on urban reconstruction. 5. OXFAM has released a new training ToR for retrofitting. The training will start from next week for twenty engineers working in the field for municipalities. Community/household orientation with more than 1 session b. Continuous Door to door technical assistance (Mobile Technical Support) c. Short training for Masons (Target achieved) d. Vocation/on the job training for masons (Target achieved) e. Helpdesk/Technical Support Center f.
