Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College was founded by the late Ashtavaidyan E.T. Neelakandan Mooss on 2nd October 1976 and is under the management of Vaidyaratnam Ayurvedic Educational Society, registered under the Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII/1955. The College is affiliated to the University of Health Sciences and offers B.A.M.S. degree (Ayurveda Acharya). The course is recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicines (CCIM) and is of duration of 5½ years. P. G Course in Kayachikitsa was started with an intake capacity of 4 seats per year from 2013 onwards. The College has full- fledged hospital with 150 bed strength, which is sufficient for providing instructional and clinical facilities to the students. All the 14 teaching Departments of the college are well equipped in respect of supporting facilities. The Teachers are qualified as per norms of CCIM MSR. The College has got a good Library with additional department wise mini libraries. Computer and Internet facilities are available in College Library for study purpose of students. It has got a good Herbarium, X-ray unit and Ultrasonic scanner. Boys and Girls Hostels are available in the College Campus.

SEAT MATRIX FOR 2020-21 UNDER MANAGEMENT QUOTA

1. Son/Daughter of Ayurveda Physicians in the State with A Class Registration of Cochin Medical Council. 7 Seats

2. Family members of families of Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala, Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College and Dependents of employees in Vaidyaratnam group of institutions 2 seats

Total 9 seats

In case the seats earmarked for Category (1) & (2) mentioned above is falling vacant, these vacant seats will be filled from among other applicants not falling under above two categories having the marks and qualification as mentioned above.

REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION METHOD-

1. To be eligible for BAMS admission for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in NEET for the said academic year. However in respect of candidates belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward castes, the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile. In respect of the candidates with bench marked disabilities specified under 2/7

the rights of persons with disabilities act. 2016 the minimum marks shall be at 45th percentile for category candidates and 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC candidates. The percentile shall be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in the all India common merit list in NEET/KEAM.

2. In addition to NEET/KEAM qualifications candidates who have passed in the subjects physics, chemistry and biology in the higher secondary or equivalent examination and have secured an aggregate mark of 70% or more marks in physics, chemistry and biology and minimum 50% marks in biology, are only eligible for seats under Management Quota.

3. Selection of candidates for admission, possessing the above qualification will be at the discretion of the Management.

4. In the case of admission under Category (1) : - A Class Registration Certificate from Travancore Cochin Medical Council as Ayurveda Physician, of Parents (Father or Mother ) to prove the applicant is the son/daughter of is a Registered Ayurveda Physician.

5. In the Case of admission under Category (2) : Certificate issued by the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College for dependents of employees of Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College and for others Certificate issued by the Vaidyaratnam Corporate Office to prove the eligibility.

(Documents to in support of this claim have to be invariably uploaded in the online application before its closing date. Requests to submit any certificate after closing the online application process will not be entertained under any circumstances)

How to apply for admission for Management quota

Applications should submit the relevant documents to establish their right of claim of admission under Management Quota, at the time of submission of online application itself. The documents submitted later shall not be entertained. All applications will be made online through the college website:-

The applicant has to declare that the details provided in the application are true to the best of his/her knowledge.

The candidate can take a print out of the application for his/her records.

Request for submission of any certificate offline will not be entertained

Incomplete and applications and without valid proof uploaded to prove the eligibility will be summarily rejected

AGE

Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on 31/12/2019. No age relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed.

APPROVALS

The course is approved by the , the CCIM and AYUSH, the central Government Department for Indian systems of medicines. Since 2010, the course is recognized by the Kerala University for Health Sciences.

Minimum marks for a pass

The student should get a minimum of 50% separately for theory, practical and oral examination in each subject to pass the subject.

Examination

The examinations are conducted by the Kerala University for Health Sciences and on successful completion of the course and internship the KUHS will issue the degree certificate.

Registration 5/7

On receiving the degree, the holder of the degree is eligible for registering as an A Class Registered Ayurveda Practitioner in T.C Medical Council or any other State Medical Council.

Fee

All students admitted during 2020-21 Academic year to the BAMS Degree course are liable to pay Rs.13895/-Tuition fee, Special fee Rs.3520/- as fixed by the Competent Authority.

VOCATIONAL HIGHER SECONDARY EXAMINATION CONDUCTED BY GOVERNMENT OF KERALA OR

THE EXAMINATION CONDUCTED BY CBSE AND CISCE.
