South Indian Bank as it ushers in its 80th year of service to the community is the very epitome of this quotation. From its humble beginnings in 1929, the bank has grown from strength to strength in delivering outstanding value to its customers and creating a name for itself in the banking arena. With an initial paid up capital of Rs 22000, the bank has now grown into an organization with a business of Rs 27000 crores, presence in 23 states and 520 branches, truly making it a force to reckon with amongst the banks in the country. “ ... little will become great ” The journey over the last 80 years has not been without its fair share of difficulties, but our bank has always endeavoured to ensure that the basic epithet of customer service was never compromised. Our achievements are a glowing testimonial of the confidence and the trust which we enjoy with our customers. We have been pioneers right from being the first private sector bank to open a NRI branch as well as being the first to start an Industrial Finance branch in 1993. We have been ahead of the curve in taking cognisance of the importance of technology and achieved 100% implementation of the Core Banking Solution in 2007.

  • Livable Cities India Final Narrative Report April 2018
Livable Cities Program INDIA FINAL NARRATIVE REPORT April 2017- March 2018 prepared by ESAF India April 2018 Annual Report, India 2017 - 2018 Name of the project: Livable Cities program Name of the partner: ESAF India Period : April 2017- March 2018 Narrative Summary Be it for a stroll in the neighbourhood or for the daily commute, having adequate built environment facilities encourages people to be physically active and choose to be healthy. Insufficient physical activities are one of the leading risk factors for death worldwide and for Non Communicable Diseases such as Cardio Vascular, diabetes and cancer. The intensity is such that nearly 61% of deaths in India are now attributed to NCDs, which is highly alarming. This trend can be reversed to a large extent if the cities focus on the built environment that could encourage people to be physically active. ESAF has been promoting the concept of liveability in seven cities since 2008 with the vision that “We want happy and healthy children and families in every neighborhood who have safe streets, free access to parks, playgrounds, open space and fun places to play around”. The progress we have made so far is promising, be it through the sustainable transport programs or with the public space programs. This year, we added 2 new cities in Kerala (Calicut & Trivandrum) to explore further on the strategies that could be replicated to any city. Our strategies of research, policy development, community engagement and capacity building have proven the right one for adding more stakeholders into the system who can work on these issues.

Raphael is the name of an archangel of Christianity who is one of three angels listed by name in the Bible. The Roman Catholic Church assigns the feast of Saint Raphael to October 24. He stands in the choir of archangels and is one of the seven angels who stand before the Throne of God. His name is known in the Bible where he, in the book of Tobit, is the traveling companion of the Tobias, a young man. The Church calls on him as the angel of love, patron of medical doctors and of travelers.
