Anna in the Tropics won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2003. Cuban-American playwright Nilo Cruz was commissioned to write it by the New Theatre in Coral Gables, Miami, FL. Its original audience was composed substantially of members of the Cuban exile community, and the play shares a sense of nostalgia with them. The Cuban immigrants in Tampa, like those in Miami, were starting life in a new place, and were faced with the challenge of holding onto their cultures and traditions while changing to fit into their new world. Anna in the Tropics was the first play to win the Pulitzer Prize without first having been performed in . ^ r Warning: Mature Subject Matter Gun Shots Haze

Concessions are available for purchase in the lobby but we ask that you do not bring any food or drinks into the theatre. Flash photography and the use of any recording devices are strictly prohibited. Please remember to turn off all cell phones. ^ = JT Anna in the Tropics by NiLo Cruz
