Es por lo tanto esencial y por esto, atractivo y amplio. No se agota en estas líneas, sino todo lo contrario. Desea ser un resplandor que despierte el anhelo de la Luz, que es Dios mismo. Para que nos ayude a renovarnos interiormente hemos querido "ir a las Fuentes", como nos invita el Concilio Vaticano II, en su Perfecta Caritatis: la Regla las Constituciones de las Monjas Contemplativas Agustinas y a las de la Orden de San Agustín, a Nuestro Padre San Agustín, a la experiencia de algunos hermanos agustinos que destacan por su santidad de vida y son el patrimonio de la espiritualidad agustiniana1: Sta. Rita de Casia, Sta. Clara de la Cruz de Montefalco, S. Nicolás de Tolentino, S. Juan de Sahagún, Sto Tomás de Villanueva, al magisterio ascético-místico de San Alonso de Orozco, por ser representante destacable de dicha Escuela en la España del S. XVI, model de vida cristiana2; y fundador de Monasterios femeninos y masculinos de la época que ha dejado una huella que continua y pervive hasta nuestros días, San Ezequiel Moreno; y por último reflexiones de hermanos de nuestros días. Abstract: Background: There is a dearth of studies which are related to consultation-liaison psychiatry in India. The psychiatric referral rates in India are very low, considering the higher rates of psychiatric morbidity in patients who attend various departments of a hospital. Studying the pattern of psychiatric referrals may pave the way for interventions to improve the current scenario. Methods: The study population comprised of all the in patients who were referred for psychiatric consultation from other departments of King George Hospital over a period of one year. Data which was related to socio- demographic profile, source of referral, reason for referral and the psychiatric diagnosis were recorded and analyzed by using descriptive statistical methods. Results: A total of 78 patients were referred for psychiatric consultation. A majority of the psychiatric referrals (84%) were from the department of medicine and the most common reason for referral was evaluation of suicide attempt (50%), followed by abnormal behaviour (23%) and stress neurotic and somatoform disorders(16.6%). Conclusion: There is a need to encourage multi-disciplinary interaction in the management of patients who attend general hospitals, so as to better identify the psychiatric morbidity.

Satyanarayana, MD, DM, FIAN 15th December, 1937 - 13th June, 2020 ‘As is a tale, so is a life: Not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matter’ - Seneca Dr Vipperla Satyanarayana, former Professor of Neurology, Andhra Medical College, the doyen and father of neurology in this part of the country, who heralded a new paradigm in the practice and teaching of this grand subject. Hailing from a simple and rustic background in Samalkot, Dr. V. Satyanarayana, son of Sri Vipperla Narayan Rao and Smt V. Ramayamma born on 15th December 1937. He graduated in 1961 from the hallowed portals of Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam. Incidentally, another Eminent Neurologist, Prof Dr. M. Gourie Devi, was his batch mate from 1956 to 1961 during MBBS at AMC. Married Smt Annapoorna in 1965 who was is constant support and constructive critic. He was awarded DGM in 1965, when he joined AP Medical Services as CAS and served for brief period in Radiology & IDH. He pursued his MD in General Medicine from the same college in 1968 and worked for a brief time as Assistant Professor of Medicine under the formidable Prof. Dr B Swami. However, unlike many of his peers in those days, the inquisitive and knowledge- hungry physician wished to specialize further and chose Neurology with its intricate reasoning skills and demanding clinical acumen. He was the first person from both Telugu States, AP & Telangana, to obtain DM Neurology as early as in 1974 from Madras Medical College under the able guidance of Prof Dr.
