CTF CONNECTION Published by the Canadian Tenpin Federation, Inc. Fédération Canadienne des Dix-Quilles, Inc. October, 2013 “TRUST IS A MUST” What is “TRUST"? Trust is a complicated aspect of the relationships between persons, but trust at the company or team level is even more complex. Trust increases communication, commitment, and loyalty between the team members and coaching / managing staff. Trust is the foundation that enables people to work together, and it is an enabler for social interactions. It can also improve team performance! The company or team is a basic unit of performance for most organizations; it melds together the skills, experiences, and insights of several people. High-performing teams are not usually a collection of the brightest individuals. Rather, they are functioning entities that have diverse roles for the team members who provide the skills and knowledge to succeed. Trust-building is a relatively slow and long process compared to other business processes, but it can be accelerated with open interaction and good communication skills. • Shared experiences create trust, and trust in turn, enables deeper levels of interaction and expression between team members • Trust-building requires openness, informing, honesty and arguments • Trust also enables free sharing of ideas, which is the basis of innovation processes. • Usually, the feeling of trust is based on intuition and emotions! When coaches or managers start building high-performing teams, they make sure that everyone shares the “common goal or goals” and that there is commitment and understanding of what needs to be done, on both personal and team levels. Team members need to have competence trust for each other.

COMPILED BY : - GAUTAM SINGH STUDY MATERIAL – SPORTS 0 7830294949 Ten-Pin Bowling - Overview Ten-pin bowling is a sport where players try to hit 10 pins placed at the end of a wooden lane using a bowling ball. The pins at the end of the lane are arranged in a triangular shape by an automated machine. Based on the number of pins used or the type of bowling ball used, different countries have different variants of the game. In this game, the players try to score points by knocking down as many pins as possible using the bowling ball. The players need to hold the ball using the three finger drills on the ball. Based on the number of pins knocked out, the player gets points. At the end of ten rounds, the player who scores maximum points becomes the winner. A Little History of Bowling The origin of bowling games is still obscure. British Anthropologists have discovered bowling balls in Egyptian graves dating around 3200 BC. Some historians also claim that it was originated in Germany in around 300 A.D. The first written reference of the game signals to 1366. King Edward III of England banned this game so that the troops concentrate more on archery practice. A place in Southampton, England claims to be the oldest bowling lawn since 1299 which is still in operation. Nine-pin bowling was introduced to United States by the Europeans during the colonial era. Later on, it became very popular and is also THANKS FOR READING – VISIT OUR WEBSITE www.educatererindia.com COMPILED BY : - GAUTAM SINGH STUDY MATERIAL – SPORTS 0 7830294949 called Bowl on the green.

CTF CONNECTION Published by the Canadian Tenpin Federation, Inc. Fédération Canadienne des Dix-Quilles, Inc. February, 2016 CTF CONNECTION Published by the Canadian Tenpin Federation, Inc. Fédération Canadienne des Dix-Quilles, Inc. Graham Fach - 2016 Barbasol Players Champion "This has been truly overwhelming. Joining the PBA has been Graham's dream since he was 2. There are few people who fulfill their lifelong dreams. To win so soon and be the only Canadian to do it so far, is beyond incredible. I can't wait for him to be the first, instead of the only Canadian to have done this." (Connie Fach) Graham's parents (Connie & Danny Fach (pronounced Faw) ) bowled in a fun league Friday evenings. Graham tagged along and, after league was over he would be throwing balls down the lane. Neither Connie or Danny steered Graham toward bowling - he just started it all on his own. Before he could walk, Graham was fascinated by bowling on TV. The family has dozens of older PBA video tapes at home. They would find Graham constantly watching and studying the tapes for hours. During his second Christmas, Graham's Aunt and Uncle found a bowling pin for sale and, knowing his love of the game, wrapped it up and gave it to him as a gift. It was the best Christmas gift ever. Graham was 2 years old when he started 5-pin Smurf league bowling and at 4 years of age he joined a 10-pin league. He started at Bowlerama on Grange Road and later moved to Woodlawn Bowl, both in Guelph, Ontario.
