SUMMER THEATRE

Former Vice President Hobart Heller first suggested that Eastern have a Summer Theatre Program. In the Summer of 1960 such a program was initiated. The course in Summer Theatre was designed to give practical, comprehensive experience in all phases oftheatrical production and to offer University credit for such work. In recent years students enrolled in Summer Theatre have com bined talents with students enrolled in Music Theatre Workshop to produce . For twenty-six years students and faculty members have worked diligently to present the finest in theatrical entertainment for audi ences in and around Charleston. A host of directors, designers and performers have been bringing a varied menu of theatrical fare to Eastern's summer audiences ever since the summer of 1960. We hope Little Mary Sunshine continues this tradition. MUSICAL NUMBERS

THE WALTZ OF THE TOREADORS by Jean Anouilh

Directed by C. P. Blanchette

This story is told on two levels of existence: one, the blustery, comic, sex farce about a general who fancies himself quite the toreador with the ladies; the other, the bitterness and disgust that he feels toward himself, and the hollowness of all his triumphs, both on and off the field. The play is a maze of riotous comic cadenzas, positively amazing husband-and wife tug-o'-wars, and elusive moments of straightforward spiritual candor.

AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A LITTLE by Paul Zinda.

Directed by Mel Slott

This biting, touching and often wildly funny play probes deeply into the tortured relationship of three sisters whose lives have reached a point of crisis.
