Seismic Source Zone Tectonically and Flores Island are sited on 2 subduction. From the north is by Banda sea plate and from the south by Indian ocean-Australia plate. These two plate are seismically active. The recent earthquake in the early morning of today is the result of a subduction activity in the north part of Sumbawa-Flores islands. The strongest recorded earthquake in this area was the 1992 earthquake. This historical earthquake was followed by a big tsunami wave which destroyed Maumere, Sikka and Larantuka area, and killed 2,080.

Exposure At the city and Bima the quake shock were measured at VIII MMI and felt very strong. People were panicked. The media reported 2 person were perished and hundreds of houses were collapsed at . In , the quake was felt as strong as VI-VII MMI. Many houses were collapsed at this regency as most of the houses were built without column. More over, there are 6 people were heavily injured and hospitalized at Dompu local hospital.
