PROGRAMPUBLIC TELEVISION & PUBLIC RADIO FOR ROCHESTER LISTINGSSEPTEMBER 2012

This much-anticipated documentary spotlighting the restoration of Rochester’s only Frank Lloyd Wright house on East Boulevard premieres September 20. Tune in and learn how the owners, Fran Cosentino and Jane Parker, acquired the Boynton House, and how they worked to restore it to its original beauty, using materials and processes that Wright himself intended. The history of the house, and that of its original owner Mr. Edward Boynton are told by many experts including Jean France, Boynton Historian and Architectural Scholar; Carol Boynton Atwood, descendent of the Boynton Family; Eric Norden, owner of Eric Norden Restorations; and John E. Page, owner of Bero Architecture. The Landmark Society’s Executive Director Wayne Goodman also talks about the importance of preserving this national treasure. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Boynton House: The Next Hundred Years is a co-production of WXXI Public Broadcasting, Fran Cosentino, and Jane Parker. To watch a trailer, visit: WXXI.org/boyntonhouse. AMERICAN ROUTES

Join host Nick Spitzer Saturdays at 6 p.m. for American Routes, a two-hour public ra- dio program that presents a broad range of American music — blues and jazz, gospel and soul, old-time country and rockabilly, Cajun and zydeco, Tejano and Latin, roots rock and pop, avant-garde and classical. The songs and stories on American Routes describe both the community origins of our music, musicians and cultures — the “roots”— and the many directions they take over time — the “routes.”

American Routes airs Saturdays at 6 p.m. on WRUR-FM 88.5 ARTS & CULTURE IN CELEBRATION OF HISPANIC WITH ELBIO BARILARI HERITAGE MONTH, Classical 91.5 is pleased to present this music series that features the hottest Latin-American music from the 16th to the 21st centuries. Hosted by Elbio Barilari, a faculty member of the University of Illinois at Chicago, the series travels through the hidden pleasures of Latino concert music, including the magical rhythms of Silvestre Revueltas and Heitor Villa-Lobos and the power of symphonic tango. Plus, it shares little-known treasures from the Latin- American Baroque, and celebrates classical guitar through the music of Agustin Barrios, Antonio Lauro, and Leo Brouwer.
