Founded in 1979, The Andrew Glover Youth Program is a community-based organization that provides alternatives to incarceration and crime preven- tion programs to youthful offenders and at-risk youths from the Lower East Side and East Harlem. Each year we serve over 300 youths. Over the years, The Glover Program has saved thousands of young lives and millions of taxpayer dollars. 94% of our successful graduates avoid incarceration within the three-year period after their completion of our program while only 20% of all juvenile offenders released from a New York State detention facility are able to avoid re-incarceration in the same period. Finally, New York State spends up to $265,000 to incarcerate one youth for a year. Compare that to The Glover Program’s expense of just $3,700 per year to save a youth through our 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week, life-changing support.
