For this analysis, the HMA is divided into two submarkets: (1) the Missouri submarket, which consists of Bates, Caldwell, Cass, Clay, Clinton, Jackson, Lafayette, Platte, and Ray Counties; and (2) the Kansas submarket, which consists of Johnson, Linn, Miami, Leavenworth, and Wyandotte Counties. The city of Kansas City is known for its style of jazz. In 2018, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization designated Kansas City Tools and Resources as a “City of Music,” the only such city in the United States. PAUKERT U.S. Geological Survey, Kansas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, Division of Biology, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, USA Abstract Blue sucker, Cycleptus elongatus (Le Sueur), was sampled in the Kansas River, Kansas, USA to determine how relative abundance varies spatially and growth compares to other populations. Electric fishing was conducted at 36 fixed sites during five time periods from March 2005 to January 2006 to determine seasonal distribution. An additional 302 sites were sampled in summer 2005 to determine distribution throughout the river. A total of 101 blue sucker was collected ranging from 242 to 782 mm total length and 1–16 years old. Higher catch rates were observed in upper river segments and below a low-head dam in lower river segments, and catch rates were higher during November in the upriver sites. Kansas River blue sucker exhibited slower growth rates than other populations in the Great Plains including populations as far north as South Dakota. It's much more. Oh, we still have some of the best channel, Tflathead, and blue catfishing to be found, but today Kansas anglers have great variety. If you're an old-school angler and still want to catch the whiskered fish native to our streams and rivers, you have more opportunities today than ever. Channel catfish are found in nearly every stream, river, pond, lake, and reservoir in the state. They remain one of the most popular angling species. To keep up with demand, state fish hatcheries produce mil- lions of channel cats each year. Some are stocked into lakes as fry, but more are fed and grown to catchable size, then stocked into one of many state and community lakes around the state. Our reservoirs hold amazing numbers of channel catfish, and for the most part, the reservoir cats are overlooked by anglers fishing for other species. Fisheries biologists consider channel cats an underutilized resource in most large reservoirs. For sheer excitement, the flathead catfish is still king. Monster flatheads weighing 60, 70 and even 80 pounds are caught each owned, but some reaches are leased by the department through summer. Executive Summary The East Osage River Basin is found in central Missouri in the Missouri counties of Osage, Maries, Cole, Pulaski, Miller, Camden, Morgan, Benton, and Hickory and encompasses 2,474.52 mi2. This basin has been divided into two 8-digit hydrologic units (HUCs) and fourteen 11-digit HUCs. Lake of the Ozarks was formed in 1931 in the western half of the East Osage River Basin. Geomorphology This basin lies within a dissected plateau known as the Salem Plateau and is represented by four of Missouri’s natural divisions. -

Swedes in the 1880 Census of Dickinson County, Kansas Thomas Branigar* Swedes formed one of the earliest ethnic groups in Dickinson County, KS. The first immigrants arrived in the late 1850s, shortly after the territory was opened to settlement and settled south of the Smoky Hill River in what is today Center Township. By the time of the 1880 census the Center Township group had grown to several dozen families and had overflowed into Logan and Liberty Townships. A much smaller group df Swedes had settled in Fragrant Hill Township in the 1870s, anda few isolated Swedish families were scattered around the rest of the county. Extensive information is available on the Swedes of Center Township. Two churches were established by the immigrants - the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, based upon the state religion of Sweden and the Swedish Mission Church, later known as the Pleasant Hill Church, which was independent.
