Access to Public Offices Restricted – Level 5 COVID-19 Restrictions

The Council’s COVID-19 Team working with the Council’s Business Continuity Group continue to support Management Team to continue service delivery in a safe and sustainable business environment across all our premises.

Members of the public continue to pre-book appointments with relevant services either online at www..ie/countycouncil/OnlineBookingSystem/ or by phone to 045 980 200 An appointment based approach is assisting in managing attendance at the offices in a safe way.

With Level 5 COVID19 restrictions continuing, access to our public offices is restricted to appointment only and should be limited to urgent and necessary business. In accordance with Public Health advice staff are working remotely as much as possible and work is continuing to enable staff to deal with queries online and by phone on their laptops. All meetings are held online on Microsoft TEAMS. Some staff are required to attend the offices to carry out tasks that cannot be done remotely but this is being kept to a minimum.

______Open Space and Outdoor Recreation Strategy 2021-2031 Following the extensive public consultation programme carried out in 2020, work has now commenced on analysing the findings and preparing the final strategy. The Open Space Strategy will also inform the review of the County Development Plan (CDP) 2023-2029.

Department of Education and Skills Ongoing consultations are taking place between Kildare County Council and the Department of Education and Skills with respect to the provision of schools in the Kildare-Newbridge/Curragh Environs, Celbridge, Naas and Blessington Environs. A meeting took place on 03 March with senior officials from the Department of Education and Skills in relation to educational capacity and demands over the period of the emerging CDP to 2029. There has been some progress made in relation to sites in Blessington and Celbridge in particular.

Kildare-Newbridge – Kildare - Curragh Plains - Kildare County Council in collaboration with the Department of Defence have jointly procured the services of a multi-disciplinary team, led by Paul Hogarth Company, to develop a Conservation Management Plan and an Interpretation/Branding Strategy for the Curragh Plains. The Paul Hogarth Company has produced a website which will provide a platform for all stakeholders to have their say, for the first phase of consultations. It is vital that anyone with an interest in the Curragh Plains and its conservation and management, engage with this process, as it is your views and opinions that help inform the outcome.
