As the recipes are based on different measurements and temperature scales we have added conversion tables for your (and our) help. At the end of the recipe book you will find a vocabulary list with the most common ingredients for the recipes in the languages used in the countries involved in the project. For the order of recipes we decided to begin with starters and soups being followed by various main courses and desserts. Finally we have added a chapter about typical cookies and cakes. We learned during the project work, that making cookies yourself is not common in many of the countries involved in this project, but nevertheless many nice cookies recipes exist – we wanted to give them some space here and we hope that you will try out some of them! We have added a DVD which shows the making of some of the dishes during the meetings and also contains the recipes.

  • Tourist Attractions
Tourist attractions Opole Silesia is an attractive region for every tourist and hiker. Due to its geographical location, it has long been a place of intersecting roads and trade routes. Historical factors have likewise made it a region open to migration and colonisation, as well as a place of asylum for religious refugees. In consequence, it has become a territory in which various cultures have mingled, in particular Polish, German, and Czech. Traces of these cultures and their transformations can be found in the architecture, handicraft and folklore of the region. The cultural heritage of Opole Silesia consists of architectural, folkloric, and natural wealth. Treasures of material culture – palaces, churches (including wooden ones), chapels, monuments, and technological monuments – often appear closely connected with the natural world. Parks, gardens, arboreta, zoological gardens and fishponds once were established in the close vicinity of palaces. Churches and chapels were accompanied with melliferous lime trees, which are now under protection. Sculptures of St. John Nepomucen once adorned bridges, rivers, or crossroads. Apart from an impressive number of man-made monuments, Opole Silesia also has natural monuments of exceptional value. In this respect, it belongs to the most important regions in Poland. There are many rare and endangered plant and animal species, unusual fossils, as well as numerous forms of inanimate nature, such as rivers picturesquely meandering in their natural river beds, springs, caves and the occasional boulder. The most valuable natural areas and objects are protected in landscape parks and nature reserves. Introduction 1 Moszna It is one of the youngest residential castles in Silesia, an architectural colossus (63000 m³ of cubic capacity, 7000 m² of surface area, 360 rooms, 99 turrets).

  • In Situ Weathering of Rocks Or Aeolian Silt Deposition
Journal of Soils and Sediments https://doi.org/10.1007/s11368-019-02377-5 SOILS, SEC 5 • SOIL AND LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY • RESEARCH ARTICLE In situ weathering of rocks or aeolian silt deposition: key parameters for verifying parent material and pedogenesis in the Opawskie Mountains—a case study from SW Poland Aleksandra Loba1 & Marcin Sykuła2 & Jakub Kierczak3 & Beata Łabaz1 & Adam Bogacz1 & Jarosław Waroszewski1 Received: 14 November 2018 /Accepted: 5 June 2019 # The Author(s) 2019 Abstract Purpose The aims: (1) to investigate the role of the in situ weathering of bedrock in providing substrate for soil formation; (2) to evaluate the aeolian contribution to the mountainous soils in the vicinity of thick loess cover; and (3) to determine the influence of aeolian silt on further soil development. Materials and methods The sampled sites were arranged along the slope toposequence, where an aeolian/silt admixture possibly occurred. Each soil catena started at the top of a hill and ended at its foot. Such an arrangement of the soil profiles ensured the tracking of loess thickness variations and detection of the depth of the residuum-derived materials. One reference soil profile, consisting of aeolian silt deposits, was made. The following soil properties were determined: pH, organic carbon content, soil texture, exchangeable acidity, exchangeable ions and geochemistry. In addition, thin sections were prepared from rock samples to confirm the type of bedrock present. Results and discussion The soils in the studied area were classified as Cambisols, Luvisols and Stagnosols, characterised by silt loam texture and a high content of elements indicating an aeolian silt contribution—Hf (7.4 to 14.8 ppm) and Zr (274.4 to 549.0 ppm).
