Depuis un certain temps, le Gouvernement a opté de faire du Mali une puissance agricole et faire de l’agriculture le moteur de la croissance économique. La réalisation de cette ambition passe par la combinaison de plusieurs facteurs dont la production et l’utilisation des semences certifiées. On note que la semence contribue à hauteur de 30-40% dans l’augmentation de la production agricole. En effet, les semences G4, R1 et R2 sont produites aussi bien par les structures techniques de l’Etat (Service Semencier National et l’IER) que par les sociétés et Coopératives semencières (FASO KABA, Cigogne, Comptoir 2000, etc.) ainsi que par les producteurs individuels à travers le pays.

Elle est limitée : - à l’est par la Commune Rurale de Faragouaran, - au Nord par les Communes de Sido et Syentoula, - à l’Ouest par les Communes de Wassoulou Ballé et Séré Moussa ani Samou, - au Sud par les Communes de Faragouaran et Wassoulou Ballé. La commune est peuplée de10388 habitants, l’activité principale dans la Commune est l’agriculture à coté de laquelle est pratiqué un élevage extensif en progrès.La pêche quant à elle est pratiquée par une petite minorité de Bozos installés au bord du lac de retenu du barrage de Sélingué. L’agriculture reste dominée par la culture du coton et du maïs. La production agricole de la campagne 2004-2005 a été estimé ainsi qu’il suit : - Coton : 2 325 Tonnes 270kg - Maïs : 1 902 Tonnes - Mil : 290 Tonnes - Sorgho : 675 Tonnes 400kg La pluviométrie est satisfaisante dans l’ensemble. Les Infrastructures existantes dans la commune : -Education : La commune compte un 2e cycle à Torakoro ; 10établissements de premier cycle dans 10 des 11 villages.Le seul village qui n’a pas d’établissement de 1er cycle est Toratomni dans lequel il existe un CED -Santé : La commune compte un CSCOM et une maternité.

    Profil de Moyens d’Existence : Mali Région de Sikasso : Cercle de Kolondièba Zone Agricole – Maïs, Coton, Fruits 20091 Contexte Ce profil décrit ici les moyens d’existence d’une population agricole qui vit et pratique les activités quotidiennes dans la bande centrale du cercle de Kolondièba de la région administrative de Sikasso (voir la carte ci-dessous). Le cercle de Kolondièba a une superficie de 9200 km² et une population totale estimée à 188 818 habitants en 2009 soit une densité de 20 habitants au Km 2. Selon les projections, cette population atteindra 216 260 habitants en 2014 2. Le cercle de Kolondièba est situé au centre de la région de Sikasso et occupe la quatrième place en termes de superficie de la région de Sikasso après Bougouni, Sikasso et Koutiala. Le cercle de Kolondièba est limité au Nord, à l’Ouest et au Sud Ouest par le cercle de Bougouni, au Sud par la République de la Côte d’Ivoire, à l’Est par le cercle de Sikasso, et au Sud -Est par le cercle de Kadiolo. Le chef lieu de cercle, Kolondièba, est situé à 240km du chef lieu de région Sikasso et à 245km de Bamako. Le climat est de type tropical. Les sols sont couverts de forêts claires à feuilles caduques accompagnées d’un tapis herbacé très vigoureux: la savane. Toute la végétation pousse sur des sols latéritiques ou légèrement sableux caractéristiques des pays tropicaux. Réputés pauvres, ces terres sont cependant Nord facile à travailler. Leur texture physique constamment labourée avec un apport hydrique suffisant donne une marge de garantie au travail agricole plus que ceux du Nord du pays.
