Sgt. Robert George Davidson, was in command of the Divisional Troops, A.P. report centre. In this capacity he was largely responsible for the co-ordination of demand, supply and smooth flow of ammunition for the major artillery shoots which the aforesaid operations entailed. In Hong Kong and Japan Pte Gordon Christopher Durrant, son of Frank Victor Durrant and Dorothy Ethel Minnie Lappin, b. 20 Dec 1922 in Broadview, District of Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, moved to Keewatin in 1937, Enlisted with Winnipeg Grenadiers “C” Coy, On Christmas day 1941 on a road block with one anti-tank rifle, , some machine guns , rifles and a few land mines they held back attacking Japanese attacking forces. They spent night in a monastery and next day marched into captivity4. Together with brothers at Sham Shui Po camp until August 23rd 1942 when his two brothers were shipped to Japan. He joined them in December. Gordon had malaria, both kinds of berri- berri and went from pre-capture weight of 163 lbs to 106 lbs. When released they traveled to Yokohama where Gordon was sent aboard battleship Indiana. They were flown to Guam passing over Tokyo and Yokohama to see the effects of the bomb. After one week in Guam they were flown to San Francisco via the Marianas and from San Francisco took the train to Vancouver. He stayed two days in Winnipeg before heading on to Keewatin.
