A. Project Description: The “Tupul to Kasom-Khullen” road section (MN-06) in the state of Manipur has two sections i.e (a) Tupul to Bishnupur; and (b) Thoubal to Kasom-Khullen. Section 1 takes off from NH-53 at Tupul and ends at NH-150 in Bishnupur covering a total length of 50.8 km, whereas Section 2 takes off from NH-39 in built up area at Thoubal and end at KasomKhullen covering a total length of 47.125 km. Table 1.1. The Project index map and location map shown on google map are given in Figure 1.0 and Figure 1.1, respectively.

1. MN-06 (Section 1): Tupul to Bishnupur: The project road section takes off from NH-37 (NH-53 - Old) in km 52.3 at Tupul and joins NH-02 (NH-150 Old) at Bishnupur, about 26 km south of , Manipur the statecapital. The road section passes through a few villages andsettlements enroute, such as: Tupul (km 0), Charoi (km 4), Thangal (km 16), Dolang (km 28),Zouzangtek (km 32), Ngariyan (km 48) and Bishnupur town (km 50.80).

2. MN-06 (Section 2):Thoubal to KasomKhullen: This section consists of three roadsas: i) Thoubal to Yairipok road section takes off from NH –102 (NH-39 Old) in built up area. This section ofthe project road is State Highway No. 18, in a length of about 8 km. The roadsection passes through following villages’ enroute such as Thoubal (km 1), Wangkhem (km 1),Bishnunaha (km 5), and Yairipok (km 7 and 8).

3. ii) Yairipok to Chandrakhong section of the project road takes off at the intersectionwith Thoubal – Yairipok road and is classified as State Highway No. 18. The road passes through following villages and built-up area as enroute such as Yairipok Bamol leikai (km 1), Kekru (km 3), Khoirom (km 4), and Chandrakhong (km 7). The road alignment follows the topography of the terrain with flat geometrics and easy gradients.

4. iii) Chandrakhong to Kasom Khullen section is designated as State Highway No.-18, starting from Chandrakhong and joins – Kasom Khullen road and then leads to Kasom Khullen, a sub divisional headquarter in the Eastern part of Manipur. The road passes through forest area all along except for the initial 1 km which is agricultural, and minor built up sections. Villages in this section includes Chandrakhong / Mayaikeithel (km 0), Somrei (1 Km), Irong (2 Km), Salam Patong (4.30 Km), Yeasom

(10 Km), N. Mollen (13 Km), T. Natyang (18 Km), Hongbei (km 25), Khamlang (km 29), and Kasom Khullen (km 32). B. Details of widening:- The road has been widened from Intermediate Double Lane Standard (5.50m) to Standard Double lane (7m) from Km. 81+450 (Thoubal) to Km 88+700 (Yairipok) of the road excluding the stretch from Km 82+350 to 83+150 (800 Rm) C. Need for the report: -

The traffic volume in the Road Stretch from Thoubal Km 81+450, the District Head Quarter of and Yairipok Km 88+700, a Sub Divisional Head Quarter had increased considerably during the execution period. This was ascertained by the traffic Survey was conducted at 3 locations (i) Thoubal (Km 81+450), (ii) Yairipok (Km 88+700) and (iii) Chandrakhong/ Mayai Keithel (Km 96+015).

Hence, the due diligence study on the impact of the impact of widening of the road from Km. 81+450 to Km. 88+700 was necessitated.

D. Social Impact of the Widening: -

The proposed widening of the road from IDL standard (5.5m) to SDL of 7.00 m has been achieved within the existing Right of Way which is of approximate 18.00 m. There are no encroachers or squatters within the Right of Way. The boundary of right of way is clearly demarcated by existing lined drain/stream. There is no involvement of land acquisition, displacement, involuntary resettlement due to the proposed widening. Hence there is no Social Impact of the proposed widening. The supporting documents is attached with the report as Annexure.
