CHAPTER ONE PREFACE I have deliberately chosen the title THY KINGDOM COME with one aim in mind that is to constantly remind us that all we do and plan for the Diocese of West Malaysia is to establish HIS KINGDOM on earth particularly in West Malaysia. We should all be directed again to the noble aim and intention of our early founders of the Anglican Church in West Malaysia through our bishops, namely, Bishop Roland Koh, Bishop John Savarimuthu, Bishop Lim Cheng Ean and Bishop M.E. Ponniah, and the laity. I am indeed humbled by the appointment as the 4th Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of West Malaysia. I sincerely believe God has placed me at this crossroad of the 21st century of our Diocese to lead this Diocese to take a quantum leap from the maintenance mode to the mission mode; from a walking pace to a running pace; from a traditional and uninteresting church to a exciting and vibrant church; from one diocese to many dioceses; from a clergy led church to a clergy – laity jointly led church; from one worship style church to one stop multi – ministry church.

On the 2nd March 2021, on the day that I was installed as the Diocesan Bishop, we launched the Diocesan 10-Year Development Plan (2021-2030) with the Theme: “BEHOLD, I AM MAKING ALL THINGS NEW” (Revelation 21:5). This is in line with our Mission Statement: “We are a Church, moving towards making Christ known through Church planting, mission, social concerns, environmental care, intentional discipleship, and building up of family units with love, grace and fellowship of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” In the previous 10-year plan, a different theme was chosen for each year, while at the same time maintaining the progressive plans to advance the Kingdom of God. I wish to officially inform you that at the meeting of the Board of Management of our Council which met on 22nd October 2013, the formal decision was made that Archbishop Datuk Bolly Lapok, fourth Metropolitan Archbishop and Primate of the Anglican Church of the Province of South East Asia , will be the Acting President of the CCM for the Triennium period 2013-2015. He takes over from Bishop Philip Lok of the Lutheran Church of Malaysia, who had to vacate his position, as he completed his episcopal term in his church. Archbishop Bolly Lapok is the Bishop of the Diocese of Kuching and belongs to the indigenous community of the Ibans. CCM welcomes him warmly to his new position while at the same time wishes the immediate past President, Bishop Emeritus Philip Lok, God’s blessings and guidance in his future endeavors. Archbishop takes on the leadership of the national ecumenical organization at a time when the churches in Malaysia are undergoing trying times in regard to a recent Apex court decision (Oct. 14) that forbids Christians from using the term “Allah” in their publications. Archbishop Bolly had made it publically known that his indigenous community have used the term “Allah Taala” for centuries and therefore views the Appeal Court decision as an affront to religious freedom guaranteed in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia in Article 11.
