Pwrpas yr adolygiad oedd ystyried y ffordd yr oedd y BBC yn rhoi sylw i faterion gwledig yn y DU yn ei gynnyrch teledu, radio ac ar-lein. Mae casgliadau’r Ymddiriedolaeth wedi’u cyflwyno’n llawn isod ac mae crynodeb ohonynt yma: • Yn gyffredinol, mae sylw’r BBC i ardaloedd gwledig yn y DU yn ddiduedd fel y bo’n briodol. Nid oes tystiolaeth o duedd bleidiol wleidyddol, ac mae safbwyntiau o bob math yn cael eu gwyntyllu. • Yn y gwledydd datganoledig, rhoddir sylw effeithiol i faterion gwledig ac mae amrywiaeth dda o gyfranwyr a dealltwriaeth fanwl o’r materion dan sylw. • Mae parch mawr iawn i raglenni ffeithiol ar y rhwydwaith sy’n canolbwyntio ar faterion gwledig, fel Countryfile a Farming Today, ac maent yn rhoi sylw i amrywiaeth eang o safbwyntiau ac yn cynnig dadansoddiadau deallus. • Fodd bynnag, nid yw hyn yn wir am yr holl gynnyrch newyddion a materion cyfoes ar y rhwydwaith nac am gynnyrch ffeithiol arall fel bod diffyg o ran gohebu ar faterion gwledig ar y rhwydwaith yn Lloegr. • Mae cynulleidfaoedd yn teimlo bod y sylw yn newyddion y rhwydwaith yn orsyml ar brydiau a’i fod, yn achos storïau dadleuol, yn canolbwyntio’n rhy aml ar brotestio yn hytrach na’r materion sylfaenol. • Mae rhai cynulleidfaoedd gwledig ledled y DU yn teimlo bod gogwydd metropolitaidd yn y BBC. • Mae nifer bach o elusennau a sefydliadau’n cael dylanwad anghymesur ar y sylw i faterion gwledig ar lefel y rhwydwaith. • Byddwn yn gofyn i’r Weithrediaeth am gael adroddiad llafar ymhen chwe mis ar y camau y mae wedi’u cymryd i ymdrin â’r diffygion a nodwyd, ac adroddiad ysgrifenedig ym Medi 2015 y byddwn yn ei gyhoeddi. Mae’r meysydd y byddwn am gael mwy o wybodaeth amdanynt wedi’u rhestru’n llawn ar ddiwedd y ddogfen hon. Casgliadau Llawn Mehefin 2014 1 Adroddiad Ymddiriedolaeth y BBC ar sylw’r BBC i Ardaloedd Gwledig yn y DU Mae’r BBC mewn lle unigryw i allu adlewyrchu bywydau pobl ledled y Deyrnas Unedig – a’r digwyddiadau sy’n dylanwadu arnynt. Mae ganddo ohebwyr ym mhob un o’r pedair gwlad sydd â gwybodaeth leol helaeth sy’n gallu cynnal a chyfrannu at gynnyrch y rhwydwaith. Mae hyn yn elfen ganolog yng ngwaith y BBC ac wedi’i hadlewyrchu yn y Diben Cyhoeddus sy’n datgan y dylai’r BBC “gynrychioli’r DU, ei chenhedloedd, ei rhanbarthau a’i chymunedau”. Mae’n hanfodol bod y BBC yn ymdrin â bywydau a phrofiadau holl dalwyr ffi’r drwydded er mwyn cadw’r gefnogaeth a’r ymddiriedaeth y mae wedi’u meithrin dros ddegawdau. Mae’n bwysig bod y BBC yn adlewyrchu bywydau, pryderon a phrofiadau yn ardaloedd gwledig y DU er mwyn pobl sy’n byw yn yr ardaloedd hynny a hefyd am ei bod yn bwysig sicrhau na fydd pobl mewn ardaloedd trefol heb gysylltiad â gweddill y DU. Fel cymdeithas, mae’n bwysig bob pawb ohonom yn gallu deall ac ystyried pob agwedd ar y safbwyntiau a phryderon a geir ledled y DU. Amcan Ymddiriedolaeth y BBC wrth gynnal yr Adolygiad o Ddidueddrwydd hwn o Sylw’r BBC i Ardaloedd Gwledig yn y DU oedd asesu: • pa mor dda yr oedd y BBC yn adlewyrchu pryderon yn ardaloedd gwledig y DU – a oedd ystod eang o safbwyntiau’n cael ei chlywed ac amrywiaeth o ffynonellau’n cael ei defnyddio er mwyn ymdrin yn ddiduedd â materion gwledig • a oedd y BBC yn gohebu’n ddiduedd ar storïau a oedd yn benodol wledig ac yn ymwneud â phynciau dadleuol • a oedd storïau a oedd o ddiddordeb cyffredinol i dalwyr ffi’r drwydded yn cael eu hystyried o safbwynt gwledig. Mae’r Ymddiriedolaeth yn gwerthfawrogi’r gwaith sylweddol a gyflawnwyd gan Heather Hancock, gyda chymorth ymchwilwyr ym Mhrifysgol Loughborough ac Oxygen Brand Consulting, ac yn croesawu’r casgliad pendant bod sylw’r BBC i ardaloedd gwledig yn y DU, at ei gilydd, yn ddiduedd. Mae hwn yn ganfyddiad pwysig gan ei fod yn hanfodol i rôl yr Ymddiriedolaeth wrth sicrhau bod cynnyrch y BBC yn ddiduedd. Yn benodol, mae Ymddiriedolwyr yn nodi: • Bod sylw’r BBC i ardaloedd gwledig yn y DU, at ei gilydd, yn ddiduedd fel y bo’n briodol. Mehefin 2014 2 Adroddiad Ymddiriedolaeth y BBC ar sylw’r BBC i Ardaloedd Gwledig yn y DU • Bod parch mawr iawn i raglenni ffeithiol ar y rhwydwaith sy’n canolbwyntio ar faterion gwledig, fel Countryfile a Farming Today, a’u bod yn darlledu amrywiaeth eang o safbwyntiau ac yn cynnig dadansoddiadau deallus. • Bod rhaglenni ffeithiol ar y rhwydwaith a ddarlledir ledled y DU, fel Question Time ac Any Questions?, yn rhoi sylw i safbwyntiau a storïau o ardaloedd gwledig nad ydynt yn cael eu clywed fel arall ar lefel y rhwydwaith. • Bod cynulleidfaoedd yn y gwledydd datganoledig yn gwerthfawrogi eu cynnyrch cenedlaethol eu hunain ac yn credu bod y BBC yn adlewyrchu eu bywydau mewn ffordd ddilys a gonest. Yn ogystal â hyn, mae’r Ymddiriedolaeth yn falch o gael cadarnhad bod y cynulleidfaoedd yn gweld gwerth yng nghynnyrch y BBC sy’n ymwneud â materion gwledig a’u bod yn disgwyl mwy gan y BBC nag y maent gan sefydliadau a chyrff darlledu newyddion eraill. This is a national initiative from the NHS, essentially offering an enhanced 111 approach, supported by a local clinical assessment service. Its aim is to ensure that people who require NHS care urgently, but who do not have a life-threatening condition, are directed to the most appropriate service for their need once they have been triaged and assessed, and that this happens quickly and easily for them. In addition those patients who, following assessment, still require to be seen at an emergency department, can be offered a timed slot to attend, offering what is intended to be a more convenient service for the individual. It also enables hospitals and other providers to better manage demand for emergency care services, and reduce the risk of infection more effectively with fewer people in waiting areas. NHS organisations, including commissioners plus acute, ambulance and primary care providers, are working together to deliver this enhancement to the NHS 111 service in a coordinated way within the four local integrated care partnership (ICP) areas – Portsmouth and south east Hampshire, North and mid Hampshire, Southampton and south west Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

[email protected] Established 1983 Edited by: Andrew Morgan, email: [email protected] , tel: 01202 731162 NEWSLETTER – October 2014 Druce Farm Roman Villa Edition “Absolutely blown away by my visit to the Druce Roman Villa” This was the reaction of a delighted local resident from Puddletown after attending our latest Open Day. Throughout the season we have put a great deal of effort into providing access to the Druce Farm Roman Villa for as many people as possible. We have run three Open Days (see article below) and supported the CBA National Archaeology Week over two weekends. Working with Dorset County Museum we made the site available for school visits (see article below). Over a dozen local societies have visited the site and in addition Lilian has given a series of talks (a total of 22 during 2014) to groups around the county and beyond. We have benefitted from visits by many experts; professional archaeologists from the commercial and academic world, learned members from societies across the country and the men of stone from Purbeck quarries. We were honoured by a visit from Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe who really enjoyed an afternoon on site; he offered recommendations for further investigation and most importantly has promised his ongoing support to the project. BBC South Today delivered a live broadcast from the site and Dorset County Museum arranged for a company to take overhead imagery using a drone device, for possible use in the new archaeology gallery. I totally agree Sir Barry, BUT……………………… This is a community excavation led by EDAS with participation from individuals and groups from all over Dorset.

Chris Arden and Rob Bowers 1. Introduction: Tony Corbin (TC AFA PSG Coordinator) welcomed everyone, reiterating the aims of the PSG. He handed out copies of the one page AFA PSG Summary to the several first time attendees. (NB Donations of £49 were received (thank you) to cover the costs of refreshments (£25 charged by the hospital catering group).The surfeit of £24 has been donated to AFA. 2. Focus On Anticoagulation – Tamara Everington AF… This open Q&A style discussion started with Tamara providing a layperson’s explanation on what blood is, mentioning the role of plasma, platelets and the fact that blood clotting is a natural/needed process (i.e. in case of accident or a fall). The body is essentially programmed to make (and dissolve) clots. However, people are different (‘bleedy or clotty’) plus illnesses vary the blood make- up. Those with AF face up to a 5x higher risk of injurious clots leading to strokes. Anticoagulant therapy protects and restores ‘the system’ to a healthy balance and lowers stroke risks. Tamara added that Aspirin no longer viewed as effective for those with AF. (unless in addition to anticoagulants for blocked arteries with symptoms). Anticoagulants (Warfarin and the new DOACs) Long established, Warfarin is still viewed as an effective treatment for many patients living with AF.(Don’t fix what isn’t broken).
