This is a national initiative from the NHS, essentially offering an enhanced 111 approach, supported by a local clinical assessment service. Its aim is to ensure that people who require NHS care urgently, but who do not have a life-threatening condition, are directed to the most appropriate service for their need once they have been triaged and assessed, and that this happens quickly and easily for them. In addition those patients who, following assessment, still require to be seen at an emergency department, can be offered a timed slot to attend, offering what is intended to be a more convenient service for the individual. It also enables hospitals and other providers to better manage demand for emergency care services, and reduce the risk of infection more effectively with fewer people in waiting areas. NHS organisations, including commissioners plus acute, ambulance and primary care providers, are working together to deliver this enhancement to the NHS 111 service in a coordinated way within the four local integrated care partnership (ICP) areas – Portsmouth and south east Hampshire, North and mid Hampshire, Southampton and south west Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

From those lauding their heroes to the ones which are critical or even insulting. BBC Local Radio Service Licence. Issued May 2013 BBC Local Radio This service licence describes the most important characteristics of BBC Local Radio, including how it contributes to the BBC’s public purposes. Service Licences are the core of the BBC’s governance system. They aim to provide certainty for audiences and stakeholders about what each BBC service should provide. The Trust uses service licences as the basis for its performance assessment and as the basis for its consideration of any proposals for change to the UK public services from the BBC Executive. A service may not change in a way that breaches its service licence without Trust approval. The Trust presumes that any proposed change to a stated Key Characteristic of a licence will require it to undertake a Public Value Test. Should it decide not to carry out a Public Value Test before approving any such change, then it must publish its reasons in full. This Service Licence covers all BBC Local Radio stations in England. Each of the 39 stations is described in Annex II of this licence Part I: Key characteristics of the service 1. Remit The remit of BBC Local Radio is to provide a primarily speech-based service of news, information and debate to local communities across England. Speech output should be complemented by music. The target audience should be listeners aged 50 and over, who are not well-served elsewhere, although the service may appeal to all those interested in local issues. There should be a strong emphasis on interactivity and audience involvement.

Summary of project to evaluate local media content in Northamptonshire: November 2010 1. Background and overview of Methodology The principle objective of the project was to evaluate sources of local content in Northamptonshire across various different media – newspapers, radio, online, regional television and social media. The project sought to answer two fundamental questions: a. How many local news and sports stories are published by each media channel? b. What is the source of those stories? Northamptonshire is currently covered by two Johnston Press daily newspapers, the Northampton Chronicle & Echo and the Northants Evening Telegraph, as well as one paid for weekly newspaper, the Daventry Express. All three newspapers have associated websites. In terms of commercial radio the county is served by Connect FM, which focuses on the towns of Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and other areas in the north of the county, as well as Heart FM, which covers the whole of Northamptonshire. The BBC serves the county via BBC online and specifically the local Northampton website, BBC Radio Northampton and BBC Look East provides local TV coverage to most of Northamptonshire. The content of all the media outlined above was monitored over the course of a 4 week period which took place between 1st and 27th November 2010. As well as story counts for news and sport, the source of each item of content was also recorded against the following 13 categories: • Court / inquest • Blue light calls • Public Meetings / Agendas • Press Release • Other publicly available • Diary • Nibs – Press Release • Own Campaign • Possible paper original • Likely paper original • Possible BBC original • Likely BBC original • Other It should be noted that two BBC strike days fell during the monitoring period and have been excluded from the data where indicated.
