Manipur Pollution Control Board Government of Manipur, Lamphelpat-795004 PAKRITHI PARYAVARAN aur HUM INITIATIVE 2018 UNDER SWACHH aur SWASTHA BHARAT MISSION MANIPUR STATE By MANIPUR POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD GOVERNMENT OF MANIPUR, LAMPHELPAT-795004 DEPARTMENT OF FOREST GOVERNMENT OF MANIPUR, IMPHAL 795003 THOUBAL MUNICIPAL CORPORATION TGHOUBAL DISTRICT, THOUBAL MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT FOREST & CLIMATE CHANGE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, NEW DELHI 110003 INTRODUCTION Several activities were taken up in Manipur under “Swacchta Hi Seva” campaign from 1st October, 2017 to 3rd October, 2017 at (i) Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) at Porompat, Imphal East District (ii) Ibudhou Tanglibung Park, Oinam Mamang Leikai, Bishnupur District (iii) Utlou Bazar, Bishnupur District and (iv) Imphal West DC Office Complex, Lamphelpat including Manipur Pollution Control Board Office and Imphal West Zilla Parishad Office. Tree plantation, cleaning of canals, offices, hospitals and awareness rally were carried out during the campaign. In continuation of the “Swacchta Hi Seva” campaign, similar activities were carried out in places and districts not covered under the campaign “Pakrithi Paryavaran aur Hum” initiative, 2018 under the “Swachh aur Swastha Bharat Mission” on 11th and 12th January, 2018. The initiative was carried out under the able leadership of Shri L. Radhakishore Singh, Hon’ble Chairman of Manipur Pollution Control Board with Shri Rajasekhar Ratti, Deputy Director, Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, GoI, New Delhi. Cleaning of parks, river banks and procession with NCC volunteers were held at the following places: Keibul Lamjao National Park, Keibul Lamjao, Bishnupur District Keibul Lamjao National Park is the only floating national park in the world and home to the unique bow antlered deer Sangai. The campaign at the park was held on 11th January, 2018 from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. Cleaning of the entrance of the park was held with active participation of 100 NCC volunteers, Manipur Pollution Control Board and Department of Forest staff. Caps and T shirts were distributed during the campaign. A rally was also held with the NCC volunteers. Plate 1. Cleaning of entrance of Keibul Lamjao National Park Plate 2. Chairman, MPCB addressing rally at Keibul Lamjao National Park Thoubal River Bank at Thoubal Bazar Thoubal Bazar is 22 km south of Imphal city. The Thoubal River flows near the Thoubal market. The campaign for cleaning the Thoubal River bank was held on 11th January, 2018 from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. The campaign was held with active participation of the members of the staff of Thoubal Municipal Corporation, Manipur Pollution Control Board and 50 NCC volunteers. Caps and T shirts were distributed during the campaign. A rally was also held with the NCC volunteers. Plate 5. Chairman, MPCB addressing rally at Thoubal River bank Litan village at Ukhrul District Litan village (population 1200 apprx.) is about 50 km north-east of Imphal. The Thoubal River passes near the village and the Litan Bridge connects the valley with Ukhrul district. The PAKRITHI PARYAVARAN aur HUM INITIATIVE 2018 was held at the village on 12th January, 2018 from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm with active participation of the village chief and volunteers, members of the staff of Manipur Pollution Control Board and NCC volunteers.
