India had always been kown as the land that portrayed cultural and traditional vibrancy through its conventional arts and crafts . The 29 states and 7 union territory spreaded across the country have their own distinct cultural and traditional identities and are displayed through various forms of art preveleid there . Every region in has its own style and pattern of art , which is known as folk arts. Other than folk arts , there is yet another forms of traditional arts practiced by several tribes or rural population , which is classified as tribal art. The folk and tribal arts of India are very ethnic and simple and yet colour full and vibrant enough to speak volumes about the country s rich heritage.

Moreover the regional dances of India such as the dance of Punjab , the Dandiya of Gujarat the dance of etc , which project the cultural and heritage of the region's , are prominent contenders in the field of Indian folk art. These are performed by the people to express their exhilaration on every possible event on the occasion ,such as the arrival of season , the birth of the child , wedding, , festival etc . The government of India , as well as other societies and association , have therefore made all efforts to promote such art forms , which have become an intrensic part of India 's cultural identity.

The tribal art like folk art has also progressed considerably due to the constant development efforts of the Indian government and other organizations . Tubal art generally reflect s the creative energy found in rural areas that actd as an under current to the craftsmanship of the tribal people . Tribal art ranges through a wide range of art forms such as wall paintings , tribal music and so on. Cultural plays an important role in the development of any nation .It represent a set of shared attitude , values , goals and practices . Cultural and creativity manife6 themselves in almost all economic , social and other activities . A country as diverse as India is symbolised by the plurality of its culture.

India had one of the world's largest collections of song's , dance , theatre , folk traditions , performing art rites and ritual , paintings and writings that are known , as the intangible cultural heritage of humanity . In order to preserve these elements the ministry of culture implement number of scheme and programmes aimed at providing financial support to individuals, groups and cultural organisations engaged in performing , visual and literary arts .
