De Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam "More Than 6,000 Plant Species"

De Hortus Botanicus, created in 1682, has more than 6000 different kinds of plants. There is a huge, almost futuristic, three-climate greenhouse with the flora of the tropics, subtropics and desert. Apart from this, there is a palm house with 300-year-old trees. During the autumn half-term holidays there is a Kabouterpad (dwarf path), a sort of hunt for children around 10 by Elekes Andor years old. On Wednesday afternoons and all day Saturday, children between 6 and 12 years old can join the Openluchtatelier (open air workshop) for drawing and painting.

Natura Artis Magistra (Artis Zoo) "Educational and Enchanting"

Founded in 1838, Natura Artis Magistra or Artis is the oldest zoo in the Netherlands. This bewitching menagerie houses an aquarium, a planetarium, a geological museum and a zoological museum on its premises. There is also a huge library detailing the history of zoology and botany. Vondelpark "Historic Urban Park"

This large, green oasis was created in the second half of the 19th Century, and named after the poet Joost van den Vondel (1587-1679), a statue of whom was unveiled here in 1867. Today Vondelpark, one of the most- visited spots in the city, is a restful haven for citizens away from the city's chaos. Come here for inline skating, let your children play in the large by Dguendel playground or have a cup of coffee on one of the four terraces.

Amsterdam's largest green areas are on the edge of town. The Amsterdamse Bos is easy to find, with boating lakes, an open-air theater, a large playground, a small recreation area, a goat farm, and sandpit. While nature lovers may enjoy a beautiful walk through the woods, plane spotters can watch low-flying aircrafts coming from Schiphol. The Amsterdamse Bos is also where you'll find the Bos Museum, which has maps of the park, including walking routes and Geitenhouderij Ridammerhoeve, a goat farm with 120 goats. It also sells bio-dynamic goat dairy products.
