5 Programme Details

Program Overview & Calendar ••••••••••••••••••••••••

The unique flexible format of this program allows students to fully immerse themselves in study without having to sacrifice on other work or life commitments. To facilitate this structure, students will study a single module at a time, completing the online elements of one before progressing to the next. There are 6 broad modules covered in this program with a number of topics and subjects taught within each. Once students complete module 3, you will attend the first 5-day face-to-face workshop at your chosen campus location. The final 3 taught modules are then completed online with students coming to campus for the final 5-day intensive workshop block prior to commencing the final module. Students complete the program remotely by writing up their applied research project. Note, students can submit this and complete the program from month 18 to month 24.

Students have the opportunity to start the program in March or September each year (starting September 2021). The order of modules delivered will vary based on your intake date, so for illustration purposes numbers are used below.

Dr Stephen Mc Ivor DProf, BA, MA, Dip CBT

Stephen Mcivor brings a unique mix of experience to share with students on this program. A former elite Rugby Union player, Stephen played for in the European Cup and was first capped internationally for Ireland against Australia before playing in the Five/Six Nations tournament. After finishing his playing career, Stephen operated as an elite-level Rugby coach for over a decade at International level and as a coach tutor with the IRFU and . In addition to over 15 years lecturing experience and research (specialising in mental toughness and coach leadership), Stephen has operated as a sport and exercise psychologist in the field for over 10 years. His industry experience includes work within the sports of Rugby, county GAA, Sailing, Olympic Handball, swimming, shooting amongst a broad range of Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.
