International Journal of Surgery opens up archive of articles

Oxford, UK, September 3rd, 2014 – The International Journal of Surgery (IJS) has decided to open up its archive of previously published content, meaning that any articles published over 24 months ago will now be available for all to read. This will give everyone free access to over a decade of content and 1,000 articles (and counting) covering all surgical sub-specialties that will be added to every month. The articles can be accessed and downloaded from Elsevier’s Science Direct platform: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/17439191.

The IJS launched in 2003 has seen rapid growth in recent years now with over 800 submissions a year globally and with full text article downloads in the hundreds of thousands each year.

David Rosin, Editor-in-Chief commented on the move: ‘The Journal has always been a great place for authors to publish and disseminate their research, but we believe that this move will further enhance that reputation and give our authors an even wider distribution of their research on Elsevier’s Science Direct platform.‘

The Managing and Executive Editor of the Journal, Riaz Agha, said: ‘Opening up our archive means we will release a decade of content and over 1,000 articles immediately to the world. This is a fantastic opportunity to boost exposure globally for our authors, to spread peer-reviewed knowledge and enhance patient care.’
