Professional Experience

CBS Radio ● , CA ● April 2002-February 2008 Chief Engineer KNX and KFWB (both are fulltime news stations) & Dodgers Radio Network Designed, managed and built out the AM half of the $10 million project that consolidated KNX and KFWB, along with KTWV, KRTH and KLSX into the new CBS Radio facility on Wilshire Boulevard. Included 25 studios, SAS Rio/ Rubicon routing system, fifty-six Newsboss workstations and twelve Audiovault workstations. Maintained and expanded eight remote bureaus, twelve mountaintop repeater/receiver sites, eight news mobile units and vans with 2-way RPU. Installed and maintained HD Radio systems at both stations, as well as web streaming systems with spot substitution, broadcast LAN/WAN, MS Servers, user PCs and printers. Built network origination facilities for the Dodgers Radio Network (KFWB had Dodgers rights 2002-2007). Set up two broadcast locations at Dodgers Stadium, a remote broadcast system for road games and a network control room with talk studio. Had satellite uplink with redundant feeds for backup. Set up large Comrex Access system with six field units and four studio units that interface with wireless internet cards in the field and a firewall DMZ at the studios. Maintained Harris DX-50 and DX-10 transmitters and older tube-type backup transmitters. Installed large Burk Remote Control systems at both sites for extended site monitoring and control. Managed staff of three union technicians. Managed Engineering Department budget. Performed all Capital Project planning, approvals process, purchasing, receiving, capitalization and closeout. Provided a high quality, high reliability product.

Radio Services Group ● Santa Ana, CA ● February 1980–2002 Managing Partner Provided Contract Chief Operator, project and other engineering services to Southern radio stations. Installed first Harris FM-35K at KNOB, Long Beach. Supervised $1.5 million project, building KEZY-AM’s 10,000 watt/5 tower transmitter site in Brea. Installed and maintained PRE Digital Airwave mixer and DX-50 transmitter at KPLS, Orange, upgraded studio facility for network origination. Experience with most digital on-air systems. Provided computer and telephone services for radio and television stations. Conducted several research projects for TRW Space Operations Group providing technical and business feasibility studies for Digital Satellite Radio and Ultrawide-bandwidth Satellite Digital Media distribution for the Motion Picture Industry and Telemedicine. eBuilt, Inc. ● Irvine, CA ● April 2000–August 2001 Digital Media Manager Architected a complete Production-through-Distribution software system that would allow novice users to create and distribute an unlimited catalog of digital video and audio programs and related materials via a simple User Interface. This was targeted toward educational institutions and large corporations. Created an Intranet website that organized these programs into logical categories and hierarchy. Produced, directed and edited dozens of multi-camera streaming video projects used in training and corporate communications. Also worked directly with Global 500 clients such as Sony, Fox and Toshiba on business requirements for web application projects on which I served as Lead Information Architect.

Trinity Broadcast Network ● Tustin, Ca ● Jan. 1998-April 2000; Feb. 1985-July 1987 Manager of Information Technology, Remote Truck Supervisor, Staff Engineer Maintained and repaired professional broadcast equipment and systems. Involved in construction of new broadcast facility including wiring of video and audio equipment, adjustment of systems to broadcast quality specifications and repairs to malfunctioning equipment. Performed fill-in work for Video and Audio Engineers, Videotape Operators and Mt Wilson transmitter operators. Received live satellite and fiber video feeds, maintaining signal compliance with FCC Rules and good engineering practice. Engineer-In-Charge of television production truck and C-Band mobile satellite uplink truck. Operated and maintained video and audio equipment in these trucks at remote locations nationwide. Acted as combo Video Engineer (camera registration and shading) and Videotape Operator. Created computer generated games with motion graphics using Macromedia Flash for a network-produced television game show. As IT Manager I was responsible for PC setup, repair and user support for over the 130 user, 12 server enterprise. Replaced and maintained house PBX system with over 200 phones. Maintained and expanded a separate Telethon Call Center switch with 150 phones that generated over $200 million in donations per year. Built, maintained and served as webmaster for two company websites.

Astor Broadcast Group ● Anaheim, CA ● July 1987 – January 1998 VP/Director of Operations and Engineering Technical Manager of a five radio station group. Lead overall direction, planning, purchasing and installation of all station equipment. Responsible for technical operations for all group stations, such as studio equipment, transmitters, telephone systems, 950 MHz microwave/satellite systems, wireless microphones, T-1 digital audio systems, ISDN audio systems for remote broadcasts. On call 24/7 for emergencies. Supervised and scheduled local station technicians at each location. Designed and documented electronic systems and office layouts using CAD software. Novell Network administration. LAN/WAN wiring. Computer programming and hardware/software maintenance. Designed and built mobile studio in 31-foot RV for remote broadcasting. Created commercial announcements, station promos and long-form programming.
