The men had just taken a short break for tea being served to everyone inside the depths of the metal giant they were dismantling when the cork underlayment installed for insulation of the gas tanks suddenly caught fire, which grew out of control within seconds. Naimat Shah, Mohammad Sabir, Ali Jan, Mohammad Saeed and Saeed Khan were hired to pick up the scrap from the ship, a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) tanker, so that it didn‘t collect in the front or get in the way of other workers. ―The ship is an LPG tanker. So first of all Pakistan or its fishermen or the coastal areas where they dwell, world is preparing laws for their protection. So Pakistan must support it, this isn’t clear in the answer, this must be explained whether Pakistan supports it? This isn’t appropriate to say it doesn’t imply and secondly we would be able to give our view-point only when we are its members or we can devise a better protection-plan and policy after having ratified the treaty that fits our interests same as other countries did.

Working hours in offices remained limited and even in these limited working hours Karachi TPort remained operational on 24/7 basis due to its essential importance. This quarter witnessed the handling of gigantic container vessels at South Wharf of Karachi Port. Container vessels like Southampton Express and Hong Kong Express were handled by the port at South Asia Pakistan Terminals Limited. The port has efficiently and vigilantly handled the marine tankers calling at KPT oil piers, during the ending quarter April-June 2020, while supporting government directives. The port provided all kinds of facilities required by POL customers which has in return ensured availability of petroleum products, especially the crude oil, in the country. Another milestone achievement of the port is the safe and satisfactory handling of soya bean meal/powder bulk carrier vessel “ANDREA” at East Wharf, Keamari. The handling was also witnessed by MNA Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel who appreciated the efforts of Chairman KPT Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar and his team in ensuring safe handling of the product with all the required safety precautions.
