Go to Quavermusic.com Click SIGN UP, create a username and password your child can remember. Parent email is in case they forget what they choose. Enter class code: Home20 in the MY QUAVERCODE field or where it says to join a class. This will give you: (music lessons and games -under Assignments), interactives, creatives and books. The lessons they see in school will not be available through this free part of Quaver. Quaver works with either a PC or I pad, choose no flash if it is an iPad. The assignments are arranged by grades but are not limited by their grade. Feel free to explore. The assessments do not need to be turned in, just enjoy the lessons. For Lessons – Under the assignment tab, click the lesson (red tab) and once it opens, press launch, that will open everything for them. Click the word “next” for the following page. Exit when finished. If you need help look at the notebook piece of paper on the lower left side for instructions. To access Musicplayonline.com Go to Musicplayonline. Please explore the Lessons for your child’s grade level under the blue ONLINE LEARNING tab at the bottom or some of the many fun games. Anything that is open on the web site is wonderful, feel free to pick and choose, this is one of my resources for teaching our lessons. This was made available to all due to the current situation and is usually only for the music teacher to use. 6. IPad apps we use for school music. Beginning in 3rd grade music we use iPad apps to reinforce note reading – (pitch and rhythm), music creation and composition, and some ear training. We have used it several times this year in grade 3-5, but students may need some help getting started. 1. Flashnote Derby - They need to make sure it is notes they know, use the treble clef and use notes low E-high F, just high light the ones to use. They can also use treble clef spaces or treble clef lines which is pre-made. 2. Rhythm Swing – goes from basic notes to complex notes and meters. I suggest a few times with the practice session first. 3. Staff Wars – note reading for the treble clef – They list several clefts make sure it is the correct one, also the range will need to be adjusted by tapping on it. 4. Music4Kids – creation app, we create melodies with this, beginning in 4th grade, but it is not hard to use. Remember, a melody does not have wide leaps, small skips and steps are better. 5. Blob Chorus – this is a fun ear training app, see how many they can match before the blob explodes. 6. Garage band – 4th and 5th grade begins to explore Garage band, they love to make pieces with loops, but we mainly work on creating a song without loops. I would love to hear anything they create, just email it to me at school. This is a complicated app, so I am happy to answer any email questions they may have. 7. Ukulele – 4th and 5th grade students have been learning ukulele this year, if your child has their own at home, they can play it as part of Musicplayonline.com and Quavermusic.com. Both sites will use standard tuning which is G –C-E –A. Which is slightly different from the open tuning we learn in 4th grade this year with the “Guitars and ukes in the classroom” method, so the fingering will be different. This method will transition to standard tuning, but has just started. In 5th grade we have used standard tuning and been using jamzone.littlekidsrock.org This web site has pop style pieces to play with, They also have several types of instruments to choose from, in case you also have a keyboard, drums etc. .
