19-9-1818. The Petition of Andrew Crawford and Robert Moobery, both born in Ireland, and emigrated to this Country a short time since. Andrew Crawford is married and has a family, and Robert Moobery is single. They desire to become permanent settlers and are informed of a tract of vacant wilderness land adjoining lands granted to Stephen Crawford, to the Westward, in the parish of Springfield and Norton in Kings County. Andrew Crawford prays for 500 acres and Robert Moobery for 300 acres. On 19-9-1818 before Benjamin B Crawford Justice of the Peace for Kings Co, both petitioners appeared and made oaths that the above is true. (Robert signs “Robert Moobry”)

10th January 1857. At the Baptist parsonage, Woodstock were married by Rev.Thos.Todd, Mr.John Weeks and Miss Jane Mowbray, both of the parish of Woodstock.

20th July 1889. At Benton on Monday morning, 15th July 1889 after a very brief illness, died Thomas Mowbray, aged 91 years, a native of Donegal, Ireland, and for 40 years a resident of Carleton County.

19th November 1890. Burial of Ann Mowbray at the U.B. church at Benton. She requested that Rev.G.A.Rogers whom she had known from his birth preach her funeral. Interment was made in the family lot at Benton. India is now Canada's third best customer. During the war the value of Indo -Canadian trade increased nineteen times.

22nd August 1940. John Leslie Mowbray passed away at Benton, Sunday, August 18th after an illness of 3 weeks. He is survived by his widow, formelry Miss Carrie Marsten, eight children, five daughters, Mrs Arbet Dickinson of Woodstock; Mrs Charles McMillan of Benton; Mrs Howard Leighton of Benton; Mrs Archie Murchland of Fredericton; Mrs. David Graham of Waltham, Mass. Also by three sons, Harold of Saint John, Walter at home; and Raymond of Detroit, Michigan; by 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Anglican church, Benton. Burial in Union Cemetery, Carleton County.

6th September 1945. On Saturday afternoon, August 25th the little village of Benton was saddened by the passing of Mrs.Carrie Mowbray at the age of 77 years. She was widow of the late John Mowbray. Twelve children were born to this unison. Four are dead. The remaining sons are Walter, Raymond and Hollie, and the remaining daughters are Annie Dickinson, Elizabeth McMillan, Emma Murchland, Eva Leighton and Ethel Graham. She was a member of the U.B. church at Benton. She left a clean testimony.
