Introductory Remarks After his remarks, he receives miter from MC Johnson, and remains standing on the west side (sits in faldstool, if used). At the same time, server places kneeler for Archbishop Etienne. At the same time, Deacon Barbarossa returns to altar, and stands holding pallium. (Because of livestream, all assisting with this rite stay to north side of altar during investiture.)
Investiture with the Pallium At signal from MC Oakland, Archbishop Etienne, without miter, comes from cathedra, kneels on kneeler in front of Archbishop Pierre. Archbishop Pierre places the pallium on Archbishop Etienne’s shoulders in silence. Deacon Barbarossa then hands Archbishop Pierre the text. Archbishop Pierre: To the glory of almighty God and the praise of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of the apostles Peter and Paul, in the name of Pope Francis, Bishop of Rome, and of the holy Roman Church for the honor of the Church of Seattle which has been placed in your care, and as a symbol of your authority as metropolitan archbishop: we confer on you the pallium, taken from the tomb of Peter to wear within the limits of your ecclesiastical province. May this pallium be a symbol of unity and a sign of your communion with the Apostolic See, a bond of love, and an incentive to courage. On the day of the coming and manifestation of our great God and chief shepherd, Jesus Christ, may you and the flock entrusted to you be clothed with immortality and glory. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, who in each pilgrim Church throughout the world make visible the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, graciously grant that your faithful may be so united to their shepherd and gathered together in the Holy Spirit through the Gospel and the Eucharist, as to worthily embody the universality of your people and become a sign and instrument in the world of the presence of Christ. Archbishop: To the God who calls us all to love and service, let us bring the needs of our time.
Deacon: Let us pray for the holy Church of God: May Pope Francis, Archbishop Etienne, and all pastors, be filled with the Holy Spirit as they shepherd the people of God. We pray to the Lord.
Deacon: Let us pray for this local Church in the Archdiocese of Seattle: May we grow in unity and rejoice in our diversity as we proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ and faithfully celebrate his mysteries. We pray to the Lord.
Deacon: Let us pray for all those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic: May God be with the sick and the dying and their families; those who mourn the loss of loved ones; those who have lost work; those who are filled with fear for the future; medical workers and researchers on the front lines. We pray to the Lord.
Deacon: Let us pray for all the afflicted among us: We pray for victims of racism, violence or abuse; those who are living on our streets; families experiencing poverty or discord; those struggling with addiction or mental illness; may Christ the healer touch them and bring them peace. THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST
Preparation of the Altar Deacon Michael Barbarossa goes to the altar. Altar is prepared facing west. Servers bring Missal, chalice to Deacon Barbarossa. The gifts of bread and wine are also placed on the altar at this time. When the altar is prepared, Archbishop Etienne proceeds to the altar, standing on the east side, facing west.
Prayer over the Offerings
Archbishop Etienne: Celebrating the memorial of your Son’s boundless love, we humbly beseech you, O Lord, that through the ministry of your Church the fruits of his saving work may advance the salvation of all the world. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Concelebrating bishops now move to the altar: Bishop Elizondo stands on north side with Archbishop Pierre, Bishop Tyson and Bishop Mueggenborg stand on south.

THE COMMUNION RITE Lord’s Prayer Spoken
Sign of Peace “Let us offer one another a sign of peace” is omitted.
Lamb of God Sung by the cantors. Concelebrating bishops sanitize their hands. MC Johnson facilitates. Archbishop then offers the paten to the concelebrating bishops. The concelebrating priests do not consume the host immediately.
Communion Archbishop receives from his chalice, then purifies his chalice and paten, sanitizes hands, puts on mask, gives communion (host only) to the two deacons, then goes to his communion station on west side. (Archbishop is the only communion minister on the west.) Concelebrating bishops approach, receive by intinction in one of the chalices, then return to their places. After receiving by intinction, Bishop Elizondo puts on mask, sanitizes hands again, takes a paten, and proceeds to distribute communion on the south (to deacon community). MC Johnson and MC Oakland prepare the altar for the priests’ communion. Priests process forward, sanitize hands at the foot of the altar, then approach the altar, genuflect/bow, take host from paten, and receive by intinction. After all the priests have communicated, MC Johnson gives communion to the deacons, who consume what is left in the concelebration chalices and purify them. The altar is cleared at this time.

In this your Church, O Lord, may integrity of faith, holiness of life, fraternal charity and pure religion flourish and abide until the end, and as you do not fail to feed her with the Body of your Son and with your word, so also never cease, we pray, to guide her under your protection. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
THE CONCLUDING RITES
Greeting Archbishop puts on miter. Bishops resume miters.

Deacon: Bow down for the blessing. Pontifical Blessing Archbishop: Blessed be the name of the Lord. Now and forever.
